Just quit, wont turn on. Power input capacitor voltage over 170 volts dc. Output <50.

    I'm writing on behalf to my father. He is a retired tv technician. If the schematic is made available to him he would be in better position to deal with the trouble. Tomorrow he 'd be in better position to send more info about voltages and other info. But the schematic is a must for him! Thanks

Do you hear a click- do you get Highvoltage?
You should get 125-135VDC as regulated power.
Read below and decide if you want to tackle the problem yourself if so I’ll help along the way with what info I have. If not contact the nearest repair shop armed with the info below.

A dead set (no picture no sound) can indicate any number of problems – Usually the set is in shutdown or protection mode – this means that the internal circuits have detected a problem with a supply voltage missing, drawing too much current, going over voltage or a short condition.
The first thing to do is power off the set unplug it for 5min. than replug and try again. This in effect resets the main micro and will sometime unlatch a fault and resume working. There are certain common problems based on the make model – for instance convergence output IC’s(CRT projection TV’s) can cause a dead set symptom in many models. Vertical output IC failure can also cause the same symptom (CRT standard and Projection).
The only way to determine the real cause is :
By an educated guess based on experience or by directly troubleshooting the set – checking fuses, measuring voltages and checking for shorts. Many of the intermittent problems such as, int.(Intermittent) no sound or picture, int. picture shrunken or misshaped. These problems are generally due to cold (bad) solder joints (all TV’s and electronics) that break down under slight temperature changes or vibration and are usually verified by physically tapping the suspected area on the circuit board, or by quickly heating or cooling a suspected component or area ( cold spray and hot air gun). The other main culprit is leaky or dried out capacitors or capacitors that change value depending on temperature. These can sometimes be seen as bulged or leaky and have an acrid odour.

OK, what is the input voltage? I will give you a ruff diagram here. (volt in) Vcc--sw's-on/off/IR-control board (microprocessor)---ccfl (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) inverter (changes DC voltage tow switching DC (such as on/off/on/off/on/off but at a much faster pace (20Khz)---toroidal coil (this coil will step the switch DC voltage up to about 1000 to 1500 switch DC volt, then this coil will change the orientation of the voltage to current relationship by shifting the current by 90 degree's where it lag the voltage---this process has some changes on circuit and how it works)----OK, from the ccfl inverter------voltage multiplier (all this some HV capacitors and HV diodes hook up an configuration where each stage will double the voltage that go into... Like in you case, the two volts from the controller to ccfl. Out put volt from ccfl with be around 2.4 to 2.6 due capacitance discharge, Now this voltage will be divided in the ccfl by two input windings (I am not going to explain this). Now the two input winding will induce voltage to the secondary winding (step up). The output from secondary of toroidal coil will be multi switching to the voltage multiplier. Probably in the neighborhood of 1500 switching volt. How many stages the voltage multiplier has I don't know. The ignitier voltage to the cathode from the multiplier would be around 12000 voltage to get image intensifier tube to fire. stewbison

I don't have a photo of the AC adapter, but if you look on it the Voltage and Amperage specifications are;

Input: 100-240VAC / 50~60Hz
Output: 12VDC / 2A

This means the Input power can be from 100 volts to 240 Volts AC, and at 50 to 60 Hertz

The Output power is 12 Volts DC at no more than 2 Amp's. (Amperes)

Asian Power Devices Inc. has a model DA-24B12 that fits these specs.
Also a Wattac AC adapter model number - BAO362Zl-8-A01 will work.

Otherwise just use a 12 Volt, 2 Amp power pack, with a positive on center contact, and a 2mm pin hole

there is a short circuit protection and overoad protection to smps so o/p capacitor may short or secondary diode may short .so check voltage at primary when switched off after 33seconds whether switching process is going or not for that check dc volt at i/p capacitor then check volt at collector of transistor if metr shows 1digit then switching is going if not then meter shows full dc volt check component near about that

120 Vac, 60 Hz (North America)

AC adapter? Test the output voltage.

Use a multimeter.
Stores like Radio Shack, Walmart, and auto parts stores, for a few examples have cheap one's you can buy.
About $12.

Set the multimeter knob to DC volts, and the 0 to 50 Volts scale.

The middle hole of the AC adapter plug is the Positive connection. This is where the Red lead goes.

The outer shield of the plug is the Negative connection. This is where the Black lead goes.

Look on the AC adapter for the OUTPUT VOLTAGE
(Not shouting)

Example:
I'm looking at an AC adapter for an IBM Thinkpad 370, right now.

INPUT: 100V 50-60Hz 130A
OUTPUT: 18V ~~~3.36A

The Output voltage is 18 Volts
The Output Voltage of your AC adapter should be close to this.

    MISSPLACED AC POWER SUPLY FOR "MY BOOK" 250 GB USB.


    THE ANSWER TO MY QUESTION WAS FOUND OUT BY MYSELF BY VISITING A REPAIR / SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND MAKING ENQUIRIES CONCERNING THE DC OUTPUT OF THE AC ADAPTER ASSOCIATED WITH THE WESTERN DIGITAL, MY BOOK 250GB USB. tHE VOLTAGES ARE THESE. : - AC INPUT = 100 - 240 VOLTS 50/60 HZ
