Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

It seems when I have my logitech videocamera plugged into one of the USB ports on my computer, the other USB ports won't function ('USB Device Not Recognized' pops up). Even when the camera is not in use, the other ports get this message when I connect another device. When I disconnect the camera, the other ports function properly. The port I connect the camera to is in the back and hard to get to, so I'd like to keep it plugged in. I have an eMachine T2893 running Windows XP home edition and the camera is Logitech Quickcam Communicate MP (S5500). What can I do to correct this?

Some PCs have USB ports at the back that are shared with the ones on the front. What that means is that if you have six ports total, you effectively only have 4 functional ones that can be used at the same time. Trying to use one at the back of the case will not work if its twin is already in use at the front, and vice versa.
Good luck!

When i plug it into the USB it doesnt work, and doesnt light up, however when i plug it into another computer it works perfectly

Try plugging another USB device into the same USB port on your computer. If that device doesn't work either, there may be a problem with that USB port. Try another USB port, or install a new card with additional USB ports. Bear in mind that when you plug in a USB device, the computer can take several minutes to install the drivers for it.

Hi, Please uninstall any LGS version present on your OS - Then please proceed to clean boot. ( http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitech_en_amr.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=228 ) -> Unplug all the USB devices connected to the computer ( Less keyboard + mouse ) please use corded kbd+mouse if possible rather than a cordless device. -> Go to device manager -> Delete all the USB HOST CONTROLLER -- All of them -- -> The host controller might reinstall them itslef, let the computer handle the reinstallation -> If the computer does not reinstall the host controllers, trigger the detection using the DM function " Scan for new hardware " ( The computer with magnifier icon ) -> Once reinstalled, clean boot -> Reinstall the software, plug the hardware when needed. -> Should work.
This TB delete the usb ports " memory " means if a device as been previously flagged with error, it will redetect the device without the flag, unless there is some serious issue with the hardware/OS
If your device keeps behaving this way, then i suggest you to contact Logitech support for hardware replacement as hardware failure are covered by warranty terms.

M6500 dell my 4 usb port are unable to put the dell mouse in action. It will detect it and it will freeze after 1-2 second of moving the mouse. Logitech mouse are functional.... SNC-Lavalin inc. Chris

the hardware that is the USB ports seem to be functioning good as the logitech mouse works without any issues .
What u could try is
1 try the dell mouse on another machine. If it does not work on the other machine too then its a issue with the usb mouse itself Or
2 if it works good on another machine then we could refresh the drivers for the USB ports by following :
start - right click my computer - properties - hardware- device manager - under device manager expand usb devices - now remove all the ROOT HUBS by right clicking on it and choose uninstall - restart the machine and make sure the sytem is conneted to internet | all the root hubs would be installed all over automatically.Try the DELL mouse should work.

3 if it doesnt visit support .dell.com download the chipset drivers and reinsall it . If no go
.
4 then try reinstalling the OS.

These are the steps you coudl try doin as i see it seems to be a issue with the mouse itself..

Kindly update after following steps for further instructions .

Hope it has been informative.

Chao.

Problem installing a genius VideoCam Messenger

Try restarting the computer with the device unplugged, and then when you are in Windows and everything has loaded, plug your Web Cam into a "different" USB port than you originally had it plugged into.

Now the drivers should install your device.

When I plug my Usb Logitech Rumblepad 2, it says that the usb device is unrecognized.

Try another usb port on the computer. If that doesn't do it try another computer, and if the problem still there then it is the controller.

USB ports work at 1.1; s/b 2.0

Your computer is functioning correctly.
The USB ports on your laptop are USB1 ports its pard of the hardware.
Your PCMCIA USB 2 card runs at USB 2 speed and therefore when you connect a USB 2 device to this port you will not get this USB message.
