Re: Whirlpool 635

To hasten the defrost process as suggested by Bob I would add you use a hair dryer at low setting. You wi shift the ice in a couple of hours.

Re: Whirlpool 635

Fully defrost your unit. This takes about a full 2 days with the doors open and unit off. Clean and repair all door gaskets. Avoid leaving doors open or introducing large amounts of moisture into the unit. This will probably take care of it. If not, let me know.

Had fridge a week and it keeps building up frost on the inside of the fridge at the back of it and thermostat is only on 2! Is this normal? I have already defrosted it once

if it is an old fridge , I suspect that the door seals are not in good condition allowing moist room air into the compartment to freeze on the wall
if it is new and under warranty call for a warranty check

Whirlpool Refrigerator Model No. WRN28RWG6

if the flap was open then truely excessive cold air is coming out/escape from the freezer causing no freezeing. you need to defrost your fridge.

Note also that frost build up increases time to freeze your food on the freezer. it also causes your fridge an increase in electricity consumption.

defrost your fridge for some time ti remove the frost build-up.

I have Whirlpool fridge FF450 Elite. Though the fridge cooling is normal, after the night working find in the early morning all magic light flickering though the fridge compressor is working. The freezing...

seems to me by the frost that the inside fan is not blowing air across the cooling radiator (evaporator), due to ice build up impeding air flow or the fan motor stalls or not working a t all. Defrost timer should also be checked if the air flows thru inside the fridge.

Water Pooling & Freezing

Assuming your fridge has a defrost cycle ( I.e. is a frost free model), you are probably suffering a blocked drain hole or pipe, leading to the top of the condenser or a tray nearby, where the frost water can evaporate.
The pipe can block with food or a mould plug, leading to water retention that freezes and further blocks the drain. the water is produced when a heater switches on in defrost mode and thaws the internal or external ice build up and, with nowhere for it to go it will pool on the bottom and may, when in defrost mode, run out onto the floor.
With frost free fridges/freezers, there is a drain outlet, usually hidden behind a removable panel inside the fridge/freezer compartment or, a drain hole near the bottom. If there is a drain pipe as well, access is usually from the rear base of the machine. The pipe is usually removable and can be cleaned out but prepare for some water to escape. An ice block in the drainage hole can be thawed using a hair dryer BUT GENTLY, so as not to warp the plastic inners of the fridge.

Fridge at room temp

Good day,
two common reasons fro this.
1. The fan motor in the freezer compartment has failed and is not driving air to the fresh food compartment.
2. The second common problem is the defrost system has failed, blocking air from entering the fresh food compartment.
First indication is frost building up on the rear panel in the freezer. Remove rear panel and inspect.

Here is an excellent tutorial on defrost system repair.

I have a Kirkland Whirlpool fridg # ST14CKXK000 will not cool

Good day, here's a list.
1. The fan motor behind the rear panel in the freezer compartment not running. Replace.
2. Auto defrost system failed. This causes blockage of the airflow to both compartments. Usually can be identified by frost building up on the rear panel of the freezer section.
2A. the defrost system is made up of 3 parts.
First, the main defrost heater located in the freezer section, behind the rear panel.
Second, the defrost thermostat, a small round disk located in the same area as the main heater.
Third, the defrost timer, located on the roof of the fresh food compartment.
3. Failure of the sealed system, including loss of refrigerant, restriction preventing refrigerant from flowing thru the coils properly. The sealed system has a factory warranty of 5 years.

The ability and background to use a VOM meter are necessary to perform tests on 1, 2, 2A.

Need a qualified tech to perform tests on 3.

Freezer freezes, fridge below will not cool

if your freezer is still freezing fine, except for perhaps a slight softening of ice cream. this is a good sign. the second fan you are looking for is located behind the back wall of the freezer, emptying the freezer will gain you access to the screws to remove he panel. you should be able to hear the fan blowing when the freezer door is opened.if indeed the fan is blowing you may have frost building up on the rear panel, this would indicate a defrost problem( unit not self defrosting) and so much frost has built up that the air flow has been restricted to the refrig compartment

Frost in freezer compartment

It is possible to get this build up in the return vents.  Check seals for any possiblilty of warm air getting into the fridge.  Warm air getting in will cause this.  For now use a hair dryer or some hot water to clear the vents.  Let me know what you find.  Would appreciate a solved rating for expert advice.
