Question about Canon PowerShot A95 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I turn the camera on, the Canon image comes up along with various icons, but there is no picture in the viewer - and when I take a picture I get nothing. It's like the lens remains covered. Is this a setting that is somehow changed? I reset - but no change. I can view pictures on the card, so it's not the display. I can also view settings - just not any picture.

Well, if you're absolutely certain that it's not a CCD sensor failure (which is very common for your model camera), the next possibility is a stuck shutter. A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).

To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

I have a Canon Rebel XT. After taking a picture, the viewer shows the shot upside down and when I down load to my computer they come in all upside or sideways. Just started doing this and I've had

The EOS cameras have some sort of sensor built in to tell the camera which way the shot should be orientated on screen and when they are transferred to the computer.
It sounds like the sensor is jammed or broken and sensing (for some reason) that the camera is upside down when the shot is taken.
If you don't want to pay to have it repaired you can use a program to rotate them or turn of the image rotate option in the menu. I believe this ignores the sensor information.

If your Canon A80 camera shows previously stored images of memory card in playback mode but does not show live view in camera mode to take fresh picture then ccd imager chip got defective and need to be replaced.
Local camera repair shop will help you to replace ccd imager chip because camera will take apart in detail and soldering work is needed.
Thanks.

Can we use canon ixus 75 as a webcam

A raw image is an uncompressed format your camera takes the picture in. Usually it gets transferred from the camera into a .jpg compressed format to your computer (which simplifies everything and is able to be viewed by anything like photo viewers). I would search for a canon IXUs 75 driver for your computer, and turn your camera 'on' plugged in with your USB using a standard computer photoviewer program to see if it has a live mode?
