Question about Husqvarna Viking 1

1 Answer

My husqvarna viking #1 sewing machine has some problems...one: the needle and turn wheel won't turn, it's stuck, moves a little, but not without A LOT of effort. I see some thread rapped around a shaft, but can't get to it. Although, that thread had been there a while and it still worked, so don't know if this is a new problem? Also, the display light doesn't always show me what stitch I am using.

You definetly need to take that machine to a repair shop. The thread wrapped in the top of your machine could be the reason for your bind. To fix that properly the top end of the machine needs to be removed to make sure all the thread is removed. The problem with the display could be a number if issues. From a loose cable to needing a new screen. Don't try to run that machine, if you do you will be overloading the drive system and could possibly damage it further.

Does not move the needle bar

Does the needle bar move when you turn the hand-wheel? It may have the bobbin winder engaged.

My viking 6570 sewing machine needle will not pick up the bobbin thread

Remove the bobbin case and lean the machine back. Bring the needle down as low as it will go using the hand wheel. Locate the tip of the needle in the bobbin area. Rotate the hand wheel forward and as the needle rises, you should see the tip of the hook cross the back side of the needle, moving left to right. If it is crossing below the eye of the needle, find a qualified repairman. If it crosses above the eye, try a new needle and make sure that the flat side is installed toward the back.

I have the Scandia probably 5 yrs old...feed dog is up but wimpy...not moving fabric....it's sporatic...many times the fabric stops and the needle sews in place and then is will move a little - stitch...

The feed dog motor needs re-calibrating. If recalibrating does not resolve the problem, the feed dog stepper motor may need to be replaced. These tasks have to be done by a certified Husqvarna Viking service technician. Suggest that you take it to an authorized husqvarna viking dealer for service. You can locate a dealer near you by visiting the husqvarna viking website and clicking on the Dealer link on the left-hand side of the page - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com
Good luck.

How to thread my sewing machine? Husqvarna Classica 95

Suggest you contact an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer. They can order you a user manual. Authorized dealers can be found at the Husqvarna Viking website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us

Brief description of probably how to thread from looking at a picture of a Classica 90 machine which should be similar -

Thread sits on spindle on backside. Pull thread straight across to upper left backside and fit in the metal guide. It should pull easily with only a little resistance. Pull thread forward across top toward you. Let thread fall between the metal disks (doesn't matter which one if more than one) and pull thread straight down. Pull thread slightly to the left to fit under a hook of some type and back up to fit through the large hook that moves up and down when the handwheel is turned. Come straight back down to needle and thread through eye of the needle. Just above the needle should be a thread guide (sideways hooking looking metal piece), slip the thread through it to hold thread close to needle. Hope this helps. Otherwise a local authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer will be glad to help you. Good luck.

Husquarvana Viking model 630 needle doesn't move when powered up

if the balance wheel is moving round okay manualy it could be but it could be thread lock or just a tiny bit of fabric stuck in the workings

Needle position won't lock in

Sounds like the needle bar alignment is broken. When you turn on the machine, does the needle move from left to right and then goes to center? This is called calibrating to center. I suspect it doesn't. Best recommendation is to take to local authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer for service or have them send to Husqvarna Viking (SVP) Service Technical Department for repair. A list of authorized Husqvarna Viking dealers can be found at the Husqvarna Viking website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us

Good luck.

Fabric stuck when sewing

Several things could be happening. It may be the hook/needle timing. Or it could be the feeddogs are not moving (that's the toothy looking part under the presser foot that moves the fabric). Recommend removing thread and bobbin (needle and presser foot). Slowly move the handwheel and put your finger on top of the feeddogs to determine if they are moving back and forth and are high enough to move the fabric. Check to make sure you had not manually lowered the feed dogs. You may need to take it to an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer for their assistance. You can find the closest dealer at the Husqvarna Viking website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us
