Question about Zhumell Minox NV 300 Night Vision Scope w/ FREE UPS

1 Answer

I have a NV-300 with illuminator. It is about ten years old and has been on the shelf for over a year. I installed fresh batteries but to no avail. Is it possible to disassemble and check internal connections? What do you suggest?

Purchase an ohmmeter, a volmeter or a multi-tester that has both. A capacitor tester would also be helpful

The illuminator is not working, what do you think might be the problem. Thank You Ken

Hello, what illuminator are you referring to here. The image intensifier tube, or the IR illuminator?

I am suspecting it the those Russian manufacture image intensifier tubes I am also accusing them....Russian NV manufactured of installing electronic destruction timer in the their image tube.

I fairly sure that you Famous Trails FT1200 NV Monocular is about five years old. Five years is the average on the image intensifier tube life span.

I have a few extra Green Russian Image tubes there not new but the will work but for how long---who knows...

I would call Famous Trails NV Optic company and see what they will to charge to fix you FT1200 monocular. There good possibility they will tell you that they can't repair you FT1200. But they will take it for a trading on a new model (made in Russia) for a few---hundred dollars more.

If you fill like not do this then auction it on eBay. I need some parts or if you want it fix then send it to me. drawbridge21@q.com That my email. What ever you do I wish you lots of luck in your endeavors. GB...stewbison

Battery seems to be charged, it will crank 90% of the time but once in a while i have to jump it off. this started when i left the dome light and rear inside light on all night and the battery lost charge.

Maintenance-free batteries really don't tolerate complete discharge very well. If the battery was already several years old, letting it go dead probably was the last straw, so now it may not hold a charge more than a day or two, or it may have so little capacity that if you start the car a couple of times without a long (20 min+) drive between starts to recharge the battery, it won't be able to start the car the next time without a jump. Probably time to go battery shopping.
You didn't mention your model, but many BMWs use unusual battery sizes (group #s). Most of us use a smaller, common size battery, or a larger (longer) battery because original sized batteries are hard to find at the retailers, and when you find one, it may not be very fresh. If your battery will only last six or seven years at best, you don't want to buy one that is already a year old, and has been sitting on the shelf partially charged for that year.

I have a nigh owl optics night vision monocular. I bought it about 10 years ago . It has two buttons. One is the "On" button. The other is the IR LED. Both the red and the green lights are lit....

Ten year sounds fine. You got ten years out of Russian manufacture NV monocular, even though it has Night Owl Logo on it. Send to me, I new some parts. I can get the gen 1 Russian image intensfier tube, or you can sen to Night Owl Optics in El Paso, TX.

Some of use think we know what we are doing with NV but without parts or even schematic for them we are sometime not ability to fix these NV devises. I have a couple of suppliers that will provide some image intensifier tubes; of course, on American image tubes all American Citzens can buy them but they are really expensive. The ccfl inver, control board, and even the voltage multiplier needs to be manufactured.

Do what ever you think is right, call Night Owl and see what the charges. stewbison

Simply does not work anymore. I put in fresh batteries, and the on button and infrared work but when i look through the optics I only see black

Hello, it sound like it went south, hey. These NV monocular uses Russian manufactured image intensifier tube and they are cheap. As far as the longevity is from 1 minute to 10 ten years. I have thrown away at-least 10 within the last 6 months, and that seems to be the problem with all of the that have the logo, Zinth NV, Night Owl, Rigel Optics, ATN, Bushnell, Tasco, on and on Sorry to tell this. stewbison

Hello, I fell the same way buddy. Sorry to here about your Night Vision monocular? But Tasco NV monocular is manufactured in Russia. It seem you got a few year out of your NV devise...7 years is very good. The biggest thing that goods bay is the Russian manufactured image intensifier tube. There are cheap. This is about 85% of the monocular problem and 90% of the cost. Two items that viewed as important with NV devises. The case, and the image intensifier tube. Now, if you have Russian optics above 50mm for the front lens then on could consider that the optics are another cost. Auction it off on eBay as "doesn't work, parts only" Sorry, and I wish you luck...GB...stewbison

Freezer is cold but not keeping icecream frozen.

If, the fresh food section is 34- 38 degrees, then the freezer should be cold enough to keep ice cream solid. All of the cooling capability comes from the freezer section. I, personally, would not waste time or money on a ten year old box. Ten years ago it cost $1000, so, the outlay is $100 per year. Dump the old refrigerator and get a new one.

Replacement watch batteries

When you buy your watch the manufacture puts in a battery that is made to last 5 years so that the watch can sit on the shelf and not need the battery changed before you have even bought it. Batteries you buy from a store or a watchrepair usually last about 1.5 years. Sometimes you can find a watchmaker who carries the five year batteries, but most people don't want to pay the $25-$30 to have it installed so most places won't carry them for rear they will never sell.I would also tell you NOT to buy your batteries from a grocery store or a Wallgreens type place because those batteries could have been sitting there for months, or even over a year. If you go to a watch repair they go through so many batteries that almost evey time you are getting a fresh battery.

Freezer - top shelf frosted over -- poor cooling through rest of freezer

Hi yadak,
Happy to help.

You may need a new door seal.
But they are not easy to put on properly
and I would not recommend spending a lot of money on a ten year old freezer!
the new ones are much more energy efficient and will save you a lot of money!

My G85 wont print yellow

This can happen for very old cartridges, even if they still have ink. The cartridges have a shelf life and can lose colors (usual yellow and cyan first) if stored for years.

If this is an original HP cartridge check the cartridge warranty date as shown here. If the cartridges are within their two year warranty call HP at 1-800-HPINVENt or contact your dealer for replacements. If the cartridges are beyond their warranty period then purchase a fresh cartridge.

When buying new cartridges look for the "install by" date on the package. I would look for a package with at least six months remaining before the "install by" date, which would have a year of remaining warranty.

When storing unused cartridges for an extended period keep them in a cool place and keep them upright as they would hang on a store display. This will provide maximum shelf life.

You can verify the issue is the cartridge by carefully blotting the printhead on a damp tissue. A good cartridge would have a stripe of Cyan, Magenta and Yellow, your cartridge will only show Cyan and Magenta.

I am sure that a fresh cartridge will solve your problem.
