Whypaythem is correct. The bad capacitor is C862. It is a 1000uF, 25volt electrolytic. I replaced it with a 1000uF from Radio Shack. Works like a charm. It was harder taking the plastic case apart than replacing the capacitor.

You may see very faintly that there is an image. The inverter or the filter capacitors are likely culprits. Open up the back of the monitor to get to the circuit board and if the capacitor is bulged out on top or leaking from the bottom, it is bad and needs to be replaced. They can be found all over ebay for under $5 with shipping per 5-10 caps. Hope this helps

My monitor Chimei CMV 946A gets 2 sec. picture but then went black. power still on

Excuse me but your descripton is not clear enough. Do you get ALWAYS 2 seconds of picture and then your monitor goes black or it went black after 2 seconds and you never more got a screen

In any case, ask help from a friend, letting you to connect your monitor to another computer. Would pinpoint problem and discard eventual video card issue.

Samsung 244T 24" LCD Monitor suddenly lost

Hello,

The problem you are having is a common symptom of a failure in the power supply. Parts called capacitors start failing. When they fail they stop filtering the voltages correctly and the power supply shuts down to prevent additional damage. If you would like more information on capacitor failure please check out this page on our web site explaining what they are and what they do: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/capacitors/ If you can solder then you can do the repair yourself. We have a kit available with all the capacitors that you need to replace. The kit details can be found at: http://www.ccl-la.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=124 The kit contains all of the capacitors that need to be changed on the board to return it to full operation again. If you don't want to do the repair yourself we do offer a repair service for this unit. You can get details on our repair service at: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/service-request-form/

The l226wtq goes black

Try shining a flashlight on the screen, or without the flashlight, try to see if you can distinguish anything on the screen at all, if you do, the backlight is dead, or the monitor has an internal most likely unfixable problem.

Monitor black screen

Your first step in troubleshooting this problem is to plug in another monitor to your computer. If you are having the same problem it is related to your computer. If the second monitor works fine then your original monitor is shot.
