Re: broken backlight

If you open the v3 phone shall see 4 rubbers...remove the rubbers with a very small flat bit screw driver then unscrew the 4 screws in the phone then use the small flat bit onc more to open the phone cover, then remove the silver button on each side of the phone, unclip the cable leading to the camera and also the clip connecting to the lcd once those are removed then replace the old screen with the new one.

Screen will not display

I have had the ribbon cable go defective in flip phones. In some phones that I had backlight went defective. These were not all Motorola.

The fix in my phones was to change the screen and ribbon cable. If the phone was out of warranty, I retired it and bought a new one. The cost of repair was too high in relation to the repair.

Motorola razr phone

It sounds like the backlight in he LCD display has gone bad in the phone. Most displays now have an integrated backlight, so the entire display will need to be replaced. Its not considered to be a user replaceable component. Unfortunately, you'll have to take it to be repaired. The fact that you said it was "fading" before it completely went black tells me that it was going bad and about to fail.

Good luck!

How to replace broken front glass on razr v3

If this isn't something you have tried before, I would HIGHLY recommend you take the phone and the part to a repair shop. This is a difficult procedure that does require special screwdrivers.

A repair shop will not charge you much for this at all, especially with the part in hand.
