Hitachi projection TV 60SX123Power to TV but I get nothing. Ready to open it up.

    Sirs,
I plugged in my TV this morning after watching it last night and there is nothing. Tried resetting and pulling the plug and putting it back in. I hear a click (like you get when you get when you turn it on but nothing) Tried resetting it with the service reset but no good. Nothing on the screen. Changed inputs still no good. I have it hooked in to direct TV and Cable. Before I open up the back I wanted to know what I should look for. Probably bad news. But I want to try everything before I junk it. (13 years old) Is there any hope?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. This problem may be temporary and might have occurred due to overheating on the power board. Try and reset your TV by turning it OFF for 8-10 hours/overnight and check if this resets the TV. if the TV isn't reseted then you'll need to look fir swollen /bulged capacitors on the power supply board.
You'll also need to check for cold solder joints on the power supply board as the components on these TV's are soldered using Wave Soldering Technique, due to which many cold solder joints can occur.
Also check the connector wires coming and leaving the power supply board.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.
Thanks
Rylee

Nothing happens only power button lights or turns off

Count the number of flashes for the red power button. I'm not a Hitachi owner, but you can track one down here on fixya and they''ll give you more info. One of the internal components have failed and is keeping the power supply unit from firing up. Do you hear a relay click when you try to turn it on? If so, how many times does it try to fire up?

Hitachi 51F510 with NO POWER

Something is preventing the power supply from operating:
Possible causes in order of likelihood:
1) Convergence amps failed overloading the supply (See if you can disconnect them)
2) High Voltage circuit has died. (Right on schedule since your TV is 10 years old)
3) One of the CRTs has shorted
4) The power supply itself has died (Is there a lot of dust covering it?)
See if you can isolate the failure by working down the list.
Hope Ya Fix it!
