MY HLN617W DLP WON'T COME ON. AFTER 3 ATTEMPTS TO START UP ALL THREE LIGHTS START TO BLINK AND THEN STAY ON. HAVE HAD TROUBLE BEFORE BUT THE SYSTEM WOULD EVENTUALLY COME ON AFTER UNPLUGGING IT. THIS HAS BEEN THE LONGEST THAT IT WOULD NOT COME (APPROX. 1 WEEK). IS THIS POINTING TO A BURNED OUT LAMP?

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY INPUT.

I have the same problem. It worked fine yesterday and we turned it on today and it wont turn back on. There are three lights flashing and it makes the sound but it never turns on.

Turned the TV off for 20 minutes and it won't turn back on. Have had this problem in the past with the three lights on the front of the TV blinking and the manual states it could be a defective lamp. Generally waiting till it cools down helps and it eventually will turn on. Only way to stop the lights from blinking is to unplug the surge protector and plug it back into the wall. I replaced the $150.00 lamp last month but the problem is still there. I have also noticed that even with a new lamp, the picture is rather dark for several minutes when the TV is first turned on. I ordered the lamp from J & J as suggested by Samsung.

Get on the phone to Samsung at 1-800-522-7341 and start pushing. You have one of the dreaded N series that is full of problems. Even if you are out of warranty, they have been known to work with you.

How old is the surge protector you used? Because they only last for so long and can absorb so many surges. I hate to say it but it sounds like your TV sustained a power surge.

My HLN617W dlp will turn on with no picture (sound is OK), then will seem to turn off, then back on again without me doing anything. After this ritual being repeated, the lamp and power lights will start...

The lamp is finished. Order a new lamp using the code on the side of the TV. Remove the lamp door on the back of the TV (4 screws) and then remove the lamp (1 screw). Have a look at the lamp... is it damaged? See my tips & tricks if you want to learn more about the lamp.

Sounds like a bad digital board to me. Not too hard to replace in those models but, you do have to write down a few settings before replacing it. These settings are available in the service menu. Any questions let me know tvtek@msn.com
