PowershotA2400is len cannot retract

Are you sure the battery still has enough power (even after charging) to let the lens motor do its job?
Are you sure there is no mechanical problem, you can see on the outside? Did anyone stop the lens, while it was coming out? Did anyone drop the camera, while the lens was out?
There cam be a lot of reasons, why a lens won't retract. Could be some force was used, also could be something just went wrong inside the camera. Like a gear that broke inside, or the motor stopped working. A contact failed and perhaps lots of other things.
If you already took out the battery, and reinserted it, and nothing changed, The only thing you than can do is after getting the battery out, is recharge the battery and then put it in.
If you have a spare battery, or you know anyone who has the same battery, try that battery. If nothing indicates a mechanical failure, and nothing helps, just contact the Canon Service Centre closest to you. First ask what a possible repair will cost. hen decide if you would like it repaired or you want a new camera.
New camera's are much better and cheaper than cameras last year.

I'm unable to get the lens to go back into the

hi, Have you tried to replace with new battery your camera?I suggest use Kodak battery or check the specifiction from the battery cover and you will see the different kinds of battery you can be use to your camera.

if you already install with new battery and the lens still not moving,it means your lens was stuck up and its cause of impact or excessive force to the unit.

if your camera are still covered by warranty its better you bring to service center. but if not and you have knowledge repairing electronics. just check the lens unit and make it sure that the cable, gears are all ok and having good connection.

good luck and thank you my friend

Canon powershot SD780 is camera. Camera shows the canon screen then turns black and beeps three times then says "lens error restart camera". I don't know how to restart...i need to use it I'm on a trip...

There's really no way to restart it if there's a physical problem with the lens. Try to power it on again but if that doesn't reset it, the camera needs to be serviced. A great site for help with these is: They just specialize in service for the Canon Powershots and nothing else, they are fantastic if you need help with one of these problems. Try them, your exact SD780 lens error restart camera problem is right on the site for the SD780. Good luck, that's the place for help with a powershot, it just sucks that it happened while you are on vacation.

Kodak easyshare c643 - batteries are fresh, but it won't power on. The "on" light turns green then flashes red.

If the camera has recently been dropped you may have lens damage that is preventing it from powering up. If it hasn't been dropped your problem may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera and give them a full charge (assuming that you are using rechargeable batteries). This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

I dropped my camera and the lens won't retract. The screen reads lens error restart camera. Even though I have removed the battery to restart the camera, it won't correct its self. The lens stays out.

When you reset the camera you should be able to hear the gears of the camera lens turning. The problem is that the lens is out of alignment so the lens can't slide back in. As the gears are turning, straighten out the lens (you might have to try forcing it in different directions if it's not obvious which way the lens is bent) and it should slide back in. You obviously want to be gentle enough to not break it, but sometimes you have to use a little bit of force based on the severity of the drop. You also might need to try a few times since the gears will only run for so long before stopping. I have fixed a few cameras this way but if the lens is bent too far out of alignment you'll have to get it profesionally fixed.

Anyone want spare parts for Canon S40?

Hi BigLarry, My toddler daughter recently dropped our Canon S40, and broke the casing on the camera. It still works, but doesn't retract the lens when using the slide cover. I need to replace the casing. If you still have the unit, would you be interested in selling it to me for spares? Is the casing still in good order? If so, I will bear all costs of postage too Hope to hear from you soon Regards Simon L

Hp photosmart m22 wont even turn on dont no why or how to fix

Read 'nightdivers' earlier answer The problem is that there is a small, less than 1 cm rectangular magnet, embedded in the slide cover just to the right side of the "HP" logo and above the "M22" marking, the magnet activates a metallic reed switch on the circuit board when the slide is move to the right to "turn on" the camera and take pictures also exposing the lens. When the slide is moved to the left, the reed switch contacts are off. This would be an easy fix for a camera shop (as long as you tell them what the problem is) and they would not be able to overcharge you with the knowledge you now have... This is a great camera, and would be well worth the fix My addition is: I used a magnetic ended screwdriver and lightly tapped the magnet end over where the badge/logo covers when the slider is opened. hey presto, my camera sprang back into life! reed switch must have just stuck
