It sounds like the dryer might be overheating due to possible restricted moisture vent. What happens is the moisture vent can be restricted from a collapsed vent hose or built-up lint inside the vent hose and/or pipe inside wall. When the dryer is running go outside and see how much volume of air is coming out of the dryer vent cover. Verify there is plenty of air flow and no restrictions in the pipe screen. If the air flow feels low then remove the hose at the back of the dryer and verify the air flow is good.

First check the exhaust vent and connecting vent material for a clog. If vent is OK,replace the gas valve coils.

The dryer wont heat-it over 5 hrs to dry a load. it would not turn off on automatic side & just keeps running. it turned off on the timed side

If it's not making heat the humidity sensor will never dry out, therefore it keeps running. It sounds like your heating element is bad.

Hello,

The gas coils have failed. These are the two round devices on the gas valve. You would need to open the dryer to access and replace the gas valves. Every make and model is different.

With the model number I would be able to better assist you.

Quit heating. occasionally it will heat for about 5 - 10 minutes, then goes cold. does this on both sensor drying and regular drying

Hi,
This could be a couple of things.
First I am assuming that this is a gas dryer.
The most likely is the coils on the gas valve are failing your description of problem is a classic coil failure. However not very likely but this could be the gas valve or the flame sensor.
If I can help you further please let me know. For any further help I will also need an exact model #.

No heat after a minute of drying

Your GAS dryer has no element.
You should remove the vent from the rear of the dryer.
Run on hi heat with no laundry.
Your exhaust temperature should be from 130 to 165 degrees.
If not you have a thermostat problem or a ignitor/gas valve problem.
