Question about JVC DR-MV7 DVD Recorder/VCR

Door opens and closes 3 times

Everytime I try and load a new DVD, the door opens after I close it. I then press OPEN/CLOSE to close it and it opens again. It always seems to load properly after 3 tries. I would think that it is kicking the disc back out because it is dirty, but this happens on every disc and it always seems to work after I close it again 3 times exactly.

I've got the same problem, except that it sometimes takes many more attempts to successfully load and view the DVD. Often the disc is ejected with a message that reads "Unkown disc" or something to that effect. What is the solution to this problem. Thanks

My unit is about a year old. Started similar problem a couple of months ago. I keep pushing open/close button, then depends on the luck it accepts after several attempts. This became a major headache. Also my VCR has problem, not recording properly, when replays, it has many lines over it and looks not worth using it either. Please advise, if any know cure with clear instructions. Advance thanks to all those who proposes a solution.

Same problem but getting worse...have to try to load it 15 to 20 times before the DVD stays in the machine. JVC told me how to reset the unit (also says how in the manual), but this doesnt seem to help. Have it a little over 1 year, so of course the warrenty is over. Is it worth getting it fixed?

Well, it worked for a very short while but has returned to the same problem of the disk not reading and the drive door not staying shut. If I could just replace the drive I would do that but then I'm not sure it is just the drive that is the problem.

remove power cable to dvd right rear of unit on circuit board

Then with drive removed, open up drive to access the bottom near front door

Once open you will see a smalll motor and a white pice of plastic that slides. with tray closed slide that piece of plastic as far towards the middle as it will go

Try the fix where you slide the piece of plastic as for towards the middle. I opened the unit and checked the gears. They seemed okay although I did push the white piece of plastic which is located in front of the drive and opens the dvd drive. However, I think I may have just needed to seseat the small ribbon cable that connects the dvd drive to the motherboard. I'm not sure but the unit seems to work okay for the time being

RCA RTD315 Theater System The DVD Player recently

My identical system has exactly the same problem as the one described by dipaola, above. When I insert a DVD, the DVD carriage pops back open after a few seconds. In fact, mine won't stay closed even without a DVD in it, as long as the system is set to play a DVD. I'd like an answer to the big Q - Is there anything I can do about this, or should I just find another DVD player to hook into the system?

When the door is closed, push a paperclip into the paperclip-sized hole in the front to open it manually w/o the motor. Put the disc in and press it shut manually. Bypass the open/close motor completely.

Unable to open the door of the dvd --when you press the eject button to open the slot---the door does not open---everything else works

Quick trick

First let's find out if the motor is dead or
the magnetic clamp is to strong for the motor.

Press eject then listen closely for the sounds of struggling motor
if you hear it trying SLAP the top right over the DVD drive
and that should break the magnetic seal and release the tray
you may have to try a few times Press eject and open hand slap kinda
hard the top of the DVD drive , don't worry you won't hurt it.

if that works email me and ill tell you how to fix this.

Door Ajar Light

the switches for these vehicles are in the latch and they seize up from time to time. you will have to spray some penetrating oil into the dor and rapidly close and open the door hard to try and fix it. if that doesn't work then you will have to figure out which door it is and replace to latch. note if key is on, the dash will make a tone everytime you open and close door. so the door that doesn't chime that is the door with the issue.

Door on DVD player

The drawer seems to hang up when it sits closed for a while. I found that using a very thin but rigid metal item such as a nail file under the leading edge, allows it to open with the first press of the  open/close button. I load the DVD, press the open/close button and it closes and stays shut.  After I submitted my problem, it occured to me that the reason for the door to continue to open and  close, was the repeated pressing of the button. The door was merely responding to each time it was "called."

hi if your dvd driving belt is slack, it wouldnt be able to draw the door to a position where it will press the loading switch, so it will eject back. 2. if your dvd laser lens is dull or too dirty or dead it might be making attempts to load severally.if the disc driving motor is bad, the tray can be open & close many time without a success
