Routers don't actually have drivers. Linksys provides some software that can make the installation a bit easier, but no driver is required (or exists).

The Linksys website has some good instructions on installing and setting up their products. I would begin there or if you can give me more details on what problem you're having I would be happy to help.

    I can try to help.

First thing is take a look at this website:

    http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite...

It's the download and support page for your router. Generally speaking they'll do a better job then I can of giving you clear step-by-step directions.

I'm guessing you have a cable or dsl modem. You'll need an ethernet cable to connect from your modem to the WAN port on the back of your router. You'll also need to connect an ethernet cable from one of your computers to one of the LAN ports on the router. This is necessary for setup. If all your computers have wireless cards you can disconnect this cable later.

Once these cables are connected you should be able to communicate with your router by opening an Internet Explorer window and typing the following address: 192.168.1.1

Leave Username blank and type 'admin' for the password (with no quote marks).

The above assumes the router has factory default settings. If anyone has changed it address or password you may need to do a hardware reset.

Give this a try and take a look at the website link above. There's a good Quick Install guide and more complete User Guide.

Two last things: When Linksys said you need to update your router they are most likely talking about updating the Firmware. You can try to get things running without that step, or you can update the firmware right away. There is a free download on the Linksys website for this and you'll need to be connected to the router like I described above. To get to all these downloads just click on the link I gave you and look for the Downloads section and click where it says "Click Here".

Second thing...you may need to do some set up work on each of your wireless computers so don't expect everything to work after you follow the Quick Setup Guide.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi, this is directly from Quick Start Guide for your router:

"A username and password prompt will appear. Leave the

    User Name box empty
and type “admin” (the default password)

in the Password box. Click OK."

So if this is not working then somebody has modified the default settings already. If you don't know the password then you'll need to reset the router to factory default. The reset button is on the back of the router and according to the manual you need to press and hold this button for "a few seconds" to return the box to factory default. Pressing and releasing quickly will just reset the connections.

I hope this is helping you and I hope you take a second to rate these responses. People who help out on this website are doing it because they just enjoy helping and solving problems, but it is fun to see your score rise.

Laptop driver needed

Hello,

You dont need a driver for the wireless router. If your laptop can recieve wireless signal(from a wireless router) all you need is an active internet connection, configure the laptop and router to distribute the internet, you're good to go.

If your laptop cant recieve a wireless signal from a wireless router then you might need a USB Wifi Dongle.
