SOURCE: RCA 5-CD Shelf System, RS2654 Fuses

Never ever replace a fuse with a bigger one, you are lucky the unit did not blow up and statrt a fire. When a fuse blows there is usually a reason. There is a short in the main power supply or the output stage. You will need to test for shorts on the main transformer, B+ rectifiers and the main filter capacitors. If that does not show any shorts, you will need to test the audio output circuits for shorts on the audio output IC's. Good Luck

I plugged up an Legacy LA470 300x2Ch amp. It stayed in protect mode and never changed to power mode. I checked the power and ground, works fine, then remote, works fine. I then checked the output to the...

I would suspect if the amp is known to be good, that someplace you have a shorted speaker wire... possibly someplace the insulation is cut through or maybe you have a bad connection with frayed strands shorting out the speaker. Use an ohmmeter to check the resistance between each set of speaker leads and then to ground.

Changed battery cable now radio will not even come on.

When you said inline fuse I get the idea that this is not the original radio. Do you have power on the inline fuse? The 50 amp fuse you checked is a bit much for a radio. There may be a smaller fuse in another fuse area of what car type you have. If you do not have power at the inline fuse find some where you do have power (12vdc) and connect to it. If you have power at the in line fuse check the ground wire. If you have a test light or someway of checking for power test all fuses everywhere. If you have a fuse location guide for this vehicle look for the fuse for radio. If it was a add on or after market radio they probably caught power from the original source That is fused under the dash.

Jensen Amp and Sub

If you followed the instructions correctly, then the amp must be defective. This is sort of simple.

My generic suggestions:
You have the power, the ground, the outputs to the speakers, and then the input.

Make sure that none of the speaker wires are somehow being grounded. Make sure that nothing is shorted that feeds the speakers.

Protection light and nothing. ??

How about the speaker itself? This problem can be caused by a blown or defective speaker. If you disconnect the speaker wires from the amp, do you still get the protect light?
