Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If it is a new connection you are setting up then check the Display settings for your PS3. You can check it by-- Go into setting, display setting and choose the cable type and then try to do the test. See this link for details--
Sony PS3 Display Settings
If that doesn't resolves your issue then try using Component cables for the connection and check whether the PS3 works. If this works then connect the HDMI cable after the component cable is connected & then the PS3 will locate the cable. It'll then ask you whether you want to use the hdmi cable connection, select yes from there.
And, if this doesn't resolves your issue then try connecting it with another TV or else this a hardware issue with the PS3, not your TV. If it is less than 90 days old then you get it replaced and get a new one.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Samsung TV Is Not Picking Up A Playstation 3 HDMI Signal

If you are able to connect your PS3 to another TV using the same HDMI cable that would rule out your PS3, if it works.....or
does the PS3 itself have any settings that perhaps need to be set to an HDMI output as opposed to Composite or SCART etc?
Also have a look at the HDMI settings in theh TV menu too.

"no signal" showing on tv screen

  1. Make sure the HDMI cable is connected to the HDMI OUT port on the back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI Input port of the TV or display monitor.
  2. While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive power button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light --> green light --> then back to red light). This will ensure that you have held down the power button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.
  3. Turn on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and once the system finishes powering up, the Video Output Settings will automatically reset to the standard resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your TV/monitor).

I am trying to hook up my HDMI cables on my Playstation. I follow the instructions outlined in the manual and in the actual Playstation ( I have been attempting this manually while using A/V cables)....

Ok, please connect your PS3 up using the HDMI cable, don't worry about having no display yet.

Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)

Press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it, then beep again 5 seconds later. Let go of the power button when you hear this second beep.

Wait for the PS3 display settings to be reset back to standard definition. The PS3 should now properly detect your HDMI connection and ask you if you want to switch to the maximum resolution possible from your TV.

Hope this helps

How do i change from 480i to 1080 on my Toshiba 52HM95 DLP im trying to hook up my playstation 3 with an HDMI cable but it wont switch over to 1080i

Most TVs choose the resolution based on the signal coming in. Be careful if you try and use 1080P. Not all TVs support it. 1080P is only on HDMI. set the playstation to 1080i before connection.
Some TVs and Playstation HDMI do not mix well due to software in the HDMI ports. Try RGB cables.

We do not have any recommendations for converters that will change the output connector type from an HDMI cable to another type of video connection (i.e., HDMI to DVI converters). We also cannot guarantee that these converters will work with the PlayStation 3 system. Additionally, the PlayStation 3 system is only able to use one video output port at a time. We do not have information in regards to connecting the PlayStation 3 system simultaneously to multiple displays. If you do not make a selection within 30 seconds, the PlayStation 3 will automatically go back to the previous display setting it was set to. At this point, you will need to manually change the Video Output Settings under the [Settings] > [Display Settings] > [Video Output Settings]. In addition, if the Video Output Settings do not match those required for the display in use, screen may go blank when the resolution is changed (i.e., you will not see the XMB menu). If you do not see a picture after 30 seconds, you should reset the Video Output Settings. For more information on these settings, read the HDMI troubleshooting article.

We're hooking up our PS3 to a new television....and it keeps telling us there is no signal...what could be the problem?

be more specific about the problem, r u using original wires or HDMI? what kind of TV is it? and have you tried hooking up a dvd player or other devise to make sure the TV is not defective? and if you switched connections(HDMI to regular cables or vise versa) u have to change the settings on the consle under DISPLAY SETTINGS using the same connection you were using on the other TV.

Hdmi doesn't work

Make sure everything is pluged in correctly and the Playstation 3 is on stand-by. The using the power button on the console hold it for about 5 seconds till you hear two beeps. And this will reset the display settings.

Don't hold it to long or it will go on stand-by.

Also try reversing the ends of the HDMI

HDMI green screen

1-HDMI is available in several versions. The PLAYSTATION 3 is compatible with HDMI version 1.3 or higher, which will take full advantage of Blu-ray Disc™ high-definition video. There are also "Type A" and "Type B" connectors. The PLAYSTATION 3 uses the 19-pin Type A connector, which will allow resolutions up to 1080p.
The HDMI cable is not included with the PLAYSTATION 3. If you are using an HDMI to DVI converter, you may wish to remove this adaptor.

2- The resolution output (i.e., picture quality) of the PLAYSTATION 3 will depend on three factors:
The type of cable used and the inputs available on the TV or display monitor.
The maximum resolution the TV or display monitor can support. The PLAYSTATION 3 can output two types of resolution: HD and SD. Refer to the TV or display monitor's owner's manual to check which video modes are supported.
The maximum resolution programmed into the source material (movie or game). Refer to the software packaging for information on maximum resolution details or contact the publisher directly.

3- Try connecting with the supplied AV Cable instead of the HDMI to see if you can get a successful installation. This will help determine where the problem may be with your particular HMDI setup and/or equipment.

4- Disconnect any coaxial cables at the point closest to the television. Signals sent through coaxial cables may cause interference with the sound and picture outputted from the PLAYSTATION 3 which results in buzzing and humming noises from your display and speakers.
