Bought a Nikon Speedlight SB-600 in August. Tested the flash and it fired ok. I took out the flash a few days ago to use at a graduation and the "ready" light did not come on. Consequently it did...

Hi grwcamp, Sorry to hear about it not working at the graduation. Are in the correct position (I am sure you did but, we must start someplace). Look inside, see if there is battery acid in there.
If with new/fresh batteries it still does not work call Nikon. You have a warranty on it so it should be covered.

My sb will power on but i have no flash even when i hit the test button. I noticed it got a little warm then shut down when the problem first occured. Is it fried or fixable?

Are you using fresh batteries? Are they rechargeable batteries if so do a battery test maybe a battery is weak. With fresh batteries it still does the same thing then call Nikon 1-800-645-6689

Why is my sb-800 melting my batteries?

Thre is a non-repairable short in the capacitor charge circuit that puts a big amp load on the batteries.

May be repaired by Nikon service... but the electronics contain high voltage. Do not attempt to repair yourself and I wouldn't trust it even if Nikon repairs it. Why risk burning your camera and equipment!?!

SB-800 -3EV message after about 50 shots or so

IN THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL USING THE FLASH IN SHOOTING FAST CAUSES IT TO HEAT UP .

TRY USING THE FLASH IN MANUAL AND CUT THE RATIO POWER AND USE AS A FILL AND NOT A MAIN .
YOU COULD ALSO USE TWO NIKON SB800 FLASHES IN ITTL AND WITH TWO THE FLASH IS USING HAVE THE OUTPUT AND RECYCLE TIME IS INCREASED .
DAVE BLACK A WELL KNOWN PHOTOGRAPHER DOES THIS IN HIS SHOOTING .
