Question about SanDisk Sansa e250 MP3 Player

Refresh databasa Hi, my mp3 player worked fine, but now every time it´s turned on it refresh database until it run out of battery. The computer does not recognize it at all.

    I can't figure out how to refresh the database. The MP3 player claims to be refreshing database when I turn it on, but it never finishes and sees only 3 music files. When connected to a Mac, I see 78 songs in the disk and not the 3 that I can see from the Sandisk itself. The Sandisk does not see the 78 sings I loaded.

    my mp3 player works fine after i unplug it from my computer, but when it is pluged in it just keeps refreshing the database and cant get much of a charge. also i cant download music because the computer doesn't recgonize it. help

    Hi, my mp3 player worked fine, but now every time it´s turned on it refresh database until it run out of battery. The computer does not recognize it at all. I have tried to reset the mp3. Nothing happens. The screen of the mp3 is locked or frozen about 1/4 of the time line trough the refresh datebase.

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

On the intro screen it freezez and eventually goes to the next screen and says refreshing database but it dosent refresh


This seems to happen when the database gets corrupted.

1. Turn off the player.

2. Plug the usb cable to the computer, don't plug it to the player.

3. Slide the lock switch to the right, you will see an orange strip.

4. Hold the menu button to start the player. Don't release it yet. Wait until a shutdown message appears and the player goes off again.

5. Plug the usb cable to the player end. The player should go on again. The player should mount as a disk on your computer. Find this disk and back up its contents.

6. Format the player, as explained elsewhere.

7. Disconnect the usb cable. This time the database should refresh properly. Once this is done, slide the the lock switch to the left and turn off the player.

8. Turn the player back on. It should work, but you will have to load your stuff again.

9. Redo steps 1 to 5, except that now should copy your music, videos, etc, back into the player.

10. Repeat step 7.

11. Turn the player back on. It should work again.

Turn on and allow to run dead.Fully recharge then .restart should be fine.RICHARDM69

Still does not work


What you will need to do is to update the firmware on the device..once you update the firmare it should be working fine...

Try this

Run the recovery tool from the SanDisk website. Make sure you select "format" when prompted.

Then run the recovery tool. Select format when prompted.

Stuck on refresh database

It just froze


let the battery run out until it shuts off, then plug it back into your computer. Hope it Works!!

i have the same problem ... refresh database fail .. i can put songs on the player but it doesn't show them or play them :-( HELP!!!!
