My Kenmore dishwasher starts to fill and then stops

My Kenmore dishwasher starts to fill and then stops working. I have removed the parts inside of the d/w and cleaned the impeller of string and hair. After it ran on quick rinse once. When I ran the normal wash it filled partially and stopped once again.mod.# 58715252402

I've got the same dishwasher....mine is 2 years old and used only 3 times a week and now the motor is burnt out. I understand that this unit is a Frigidaire and is one of the worst ..quality speaking. I guess that why they only provide an one year warranty. Unfortunately, we got a LEMON

Kenmore dishwasher filling up with water but never spinning and cleaning

I have had this happen before on my dishwasher. The timer inside the door is stuck or the contacts on the timer may have broken off. When you turn the knob on the dishwasher it sends power to a timer, which continually turns until the end of the cycle. This timer is attached to a bunch of arms which close contacts to send power to different parts of the dishwasher during different times in the cycle, now if the timer is worn out and missing parts of its gears or missing some of the armatures the machine will only get so far along in the cycle until it doesn't know what to do next and just stops. Hope that helps

Sound like the fill valve is not working. I woudl check the hoze for a clogged screen ,then replace the fill valve if no clogs found.

Kenmore Dishwasher #587.... doing nothing but heat dry

The problem appears to stem from the float and float switch. The float is a mushroom shaped plastic part that resides on the bottom left, just inside the door. It appears that the float does not release the float switch, causing the dishwasher to think it is full of water, and won't allow the dishwasher to fill. It's a relatively straight forward repair, but even with a new part, the same scenario is likely to repeat itself until the float or float switch is modified by Kenmore.
