There are to felt and steel seals on the drum. One is located at the front and the other the rear. After a good deal of heat and friction these seals can fail which leaves a drum rubbing on the metal inner ring.Hence the squeak. To check these your dryer has to be dissasembled. If you're a good DIY'er you can do this. If not it's best left to a proffessional. Thanks, Dana

My dryer will run and dry clothes but as soon as the drum starts to turn it has a constant squeeling noise ( not a squeek like the wheels would cause) what is my problem and how can I fix it?

some dryers has a center bearing on the rear of the drum, once this bearing dries out it will make noise along as the drum turns.

My Kenmore dryer squeels when drying. It is an electric dryer, about 4 years old.

Two things the dryer drum is turned by a belt that goes around the motor, drum and a tench pulley. The tench pulley could be making the squeal. Or the drum rides on two wheels on the bottom side of the dryer they go bad and need to be replaced.

Dryer started out squeeling and now is making loud sounds?

This is very likely due to bad drum support rollers which is really not a difficult repair on these dryers.

GE evolution dryer has intermitent squeeling!

Is the belt slipping? Check and see if it is worn. Open door, remove 2-4 screws at 12:00 position, lift up cover. The belt is the little band wrapped around the big thing.

Dryer making horrible squeeling noise

this is normally a problem with rollers that have gotten dry bearings , take the drum out check the rollers if they turn hard or act sticky you may clean them up and and oil with turbine oil , do not use wd-40 or 3in 1 as these will dry the bearing, check the idler pulley while you have this apart also oiling it if need be
