You probably need a thermostat kit, either that, or the venting is plugged causing the safety thermostat to shut the heat down so there is no possibility of a fire.

My Electrolux EDV 605clothes dryer is turning but not heating, heating element is ok possible faulty thermistor, dryer heats up when thermistor is unplugged but has an error code of 5 beeps

I think you're absolutely right exhaust sensor is faulty.

The buzzer will give 5 beeps, all program LEDs will flash for 5 seconds and the dryer will continue with the cycle. The warning beeps and flashing LEDs will occur every 30 seconds.
On Timer Drying programs it will run for the time remaining and in Sensor Drying programs it will run for 90 minutes. As the exhaust air temperature can not be sensed the element will be cycled on and off at a preset amount. The cycling time of the element will vary depending on the amount of time remaining.

NOTE: When this fault exists the dryer can still be used but regardless of the Sensor Drying program selected the dryer will use the 90 minute Timer Drying program, Timer Drying programs will use the selected program, and with both types of programs the element will cycle as above. The buzzer will also still be sounding.

If an exhaust sensor fault is detected the buzzer will beep and the Reminder Clean the Filter LED will flash. The LED flashes at different rates depending what is wrong with the sensor -

Fast (4 per second) = open circuit senor, broken wiring or multi pin plug not correctly fitted to the control board.
Slow (2 per second) = Short circuit in sensor or wiring.

The sensor resistance at different temperatures is as shown below.

Temperature (Celsius) Resistence (Ohms)
55 2960
50 3570
45 4330
40 5280
35 6490
30 8030
25 10000
20 12555
15 15880
10 20260
5 26080
0 33870

As you can see this is NTC thermistor with Negative Temperature Coefficient , means if temperature increasing the resistance decreasing.

Kenmore electric dryer 29" wide 3 wire plug runs for 30 seconds then stops does it need separate power source

i will assume this is a 220 volt powered dryer
if so that is all the power it will need.
if it stops after 30 secs then the heater elements are not kicking in.
it might be that it thinks the exhaust is blocked or is.

Frigidaire AEQ8700FGO dryer will run (and heat) for about 30 to 60 seconds then stop. 3 lights above start button will flash rapidly. Depressing cancel and start buttons at same time will not work for...

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

The timer could be the problem. To check this, turn the timer to a timed cycle say 30 minutes or so then time it. If in 30 minutes the timer hasn't moved and the dryer is still on, the timer is faulty replace it If in 30 minutes the dryer is off, the heating element is your problem

Heating Element
This is the most likely cause for some dryers timer not advancing. Some dryers have two heating elements and if one goes out the timer will not advance if you use it on an automatic cycle but you will still feel heat inside the tub. Replace it

hi there, I have repaired many of these dryers. It will be a faulty heater element, most likely. They cost about $40. If you get a tradesman to fit it, they will prob charge you about $200 all up. Maybe its better to buy a new dryer for around $300? Good luck.

First completely disconnect your venting from your dryer, pull the dryer at least 3 feet from the wall and run a cyle to see if it drys normally. If it drys your clothes well then you still have a venting restriction somewhere. Ge Dryers are notorius for burning out one of two elements or shorting part of an element to the case and only heating partially. To check this you need to tear down the dryer to the element to physically see if it is broken or shorted. This entails lifting the top up, removing the front of the dryer, disconnecting the drive belt and removing the drum. How you do this depends on you model. Check out your venting first and see if you can determine what I've talked about so far. Let me know if you still have questions.

Maytag dryer heating element

have you inspected the element visually for part of the element grounding out to the dryer case,as this will make it draw excessive current and overheat and cause the thermal switch to open till it cools

My electric dryer element comes on for about 30 seconds then off,

The element is supposed to cycle on and off in response to the thermostat as you described although the time that it is on seems short. If it is short-cycling the exhaust vent may be clogged. Make sure the lint filter and the exhaust vent pipe is clear all the way to the vent outlet. If the clothes are drying in a reasonable amount of time then the time that the element is on is not a problem.

Why has my dryer stopped working

Have you checked the heating element to see if it's bad? The easiest way to determine if it's bad is to turn the dryer on without clothes in it and let it run for about 30 seconds and then open the door while its running and if you see a orange glow then your element is fine if not then it's probably bad. If you don't see the orange glow then you'll need to pull it apart and look at the element and if it's bad you should be able to see a break in the metal.
Good luck!

Stops after 20-30 seconds but only when using heat. Can immediately restart.

rbf, in looking Im not finding a 649732, but I do find a 649723. This dryer has a even heat board but also a thermistor. If you had to hold the start button for it to run, I would suspect the even heat board. That's not the case so Im suspecting a open or shorted thermistor. If you remove the lower panel it sits right behind the blower housing next to the thermal fuse. Should be black in color. Part number 3976615. The thermistor should ohm out at about 10k ohms plus or minus 3. When one of these thermistors fails usually you get the symtom your describing. Catriver.
