The center of the dial should pop off when it does you will see a clip holding it to the shaft

Try to press the start/stop button for at least 3 seconds. This should reset the started cycle, and you can make a new choice. If this dont help, it could be a faulty control board

Maytag LAT9635AAE won't start wash cycles

you can try to check the water level sensor Assembly this unit controls the fact that your washing machine will not wash until the proper water level is reached, this unit has a rubber hose attached to it and a wiring plug or connector for the electrical power to activate the motor.

Danby Dishwasher stuck in drain cycle after wrong soap use

There might be water in the overflow sensor. I unloaded the dishwasher and lifted the front so the dishwasher rested on its back. There's a narrow gray tube that runs down from the bottom right of the door. The tube runs into a white piece of plastic with some wires coming out of it. There is a rubber plug that covers a nipple on the plastic. Pull the rubber plug off. Mine was quite tight. Tip the dishwasher back onto its casters to drain the water from the overflow. Check to see if the dishwasher functions normally, then put the rubber plug back on.

Kenmore 26942503 washing machine cycle dial too loose

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=110.26942503+

See the section on the control panel.

There are clips under the control panel that will pop loose is you use a thin putty knife to push on them from the front. Then the control panel should swing up.

sounds like it could be the transmission. Does the tub turn when you turn the pulley in either direction with your hand? And take the belt off see if the motor turns when you close the lid and turn it on without the belt??
