I had the same problem last year and Samsung replaced EVERYTHING on it to no avail. Fixya sent me a fix that showed how to make sure the switch on the lamp door was in the proper position when insatlled. It worked perfectly and so far I have had no other problems........I looked to see if I could find it..........sorry, but it was an easy fix...might look thru the archives.....

I have eventually called in the repairman on this and it's been about 8
months since he has fixed it and the TV is still working fine . He
told me this was a common problem whereby the solder neat the high
voltage area on the board becomes cracked /weakened causing the voltage
to fluctuate eventually causing the TV to shut off. All he had to do
was reapply more solder to these high voltage points (near the power
supply) and the Tv was fixed took him about 20 min cost me about $180,
hope I can save you some money.

Red light comes on but then the tv is playing but after about 3 hours it just goes out but I can still hear the sound then if I go back after about 4 to 5 hours if I turn it on it plays no problem. Now the lamp just went. I think before replacing the lamp maybe I should replace cooling fan also.

Ok the details, HLN617W replaced color wheel and bulb works. Tried the power - unplug reset and worked for about 25 mins then I turned it off after no problem. No here is my original problem, after turning...

I WOULD RECOMEND CHECKING YOUR CAPACTIORS (CAPS)ON YOUR BALLIST BOARD (THE ONE THE LAMP PLUGS INTO) IT'S ABOUT 3" X 8" IN SIZE DO NOT TOUCH THE BOTTOM OF THE BOARD!!!!!! YOU WILL END UP IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM. JUST LOOK TO SEE IF THE CAPS ARE BUBBLED OR BLOWN IN ANY WAY.

No picture but sound once it goes off there is 3 blinking lights

Most likely for this symptom is the lamp. If you'd like you could sit behind the set and have someone turn it on, you should hear the color wheel spin up and then you should hear the ballast try to fire the lamp, it makes a small arcing sound. If the lamp doesn't light the process starts over again.

Samsung HLN617W Tantus 61" DLP occasionally will not turn on.

It sounds to me like you have an issue with the ballast not firing the lamp. It sound like you know to check the lamp, but there is no way to check the ballast, unless you replace it. The ballast is not that tricky to replace, but if you are not sure I would refer you to a technician to replace the part.

My Samsung HLP6163 tuns off randomly all evening

if you are able to simply turn it back on, then the problem is probably the lamp door cover switch. unplug the set, remove the lampdoor cover. the switch will be in the lower left of the opening. put the door back on while making sure that the switch lever goes down NOT UP. some of these sets came through with the switch up. it works for a while but then the little arm starts to warp and it causes your problem

Hello

Problems with the lamp door detector switch. Try jumping out this switch and running it for a while. The switch is the small switch with the blue rocker arm activated by the tab on the lamp door panel.
