Question about Technics SA-DA8 Receiver

Open Question

I have an SA-DA8 that works properly for the most part. I can't seem to turn OFF speaker A completely. I have 5.1 surround on A and twin outdoor speakers on B. When I de-select A, the speaker A light turns off, however I still have sound coming out of the L+R stereo speakers at the indicated volume in stereo mode. I've check all of the speaker wiring for cross connects. I've done 'Reset' from the manual. No Joy. Bi-amp light is off. Changed to low / regular impedance, still no joy.

SOURCE: Sa-da8 overload and off

I had the same problem. What I did was hard wire the fan so it runs whenever the unit is on. I had the reciever set for low impedance, when I turned this off all works fine. (Low impedance is only for speakers with an impedance of 6 to 8 homs or less)

I have no sound coming from surround speakers and sub.

Some surround modes switch speakers on or off as required. It's possible that the inputs you are using have settings that remember your previous settings, ie: no sub and surround speakers. Check the inputs and also make certain that whatever is connected to them is putting out Dolby signals.

Tip

Keeping your SA-DA8 cool

When I first bought this I noticed that it runs very hot even on low volume levels. I took it in for repair and told the tech that the fan didn't come on even when hot. He said "works as designed - the fan is output-power-driven, not temperature driven."

Wishing to prolong the life of ma SA-DA8, I used an old computer power supply and muffin fan. Plugged the PS into the controlled AC output of the amp, and the fan into the PS. Jumpered the "power-on" pins of the PS. Laid the fan on top of the amp, padded with some foam tape, and it now stays a lot cooler (and the fan is very quiet, though not silent.)

Why aren't my games playing on the nintendo fc twin?

The FC Twin connects through an RCA connector, and can be hooked into a surround sound system. When using stereo and surround output from these systems, NES sounds and music may seem very different from their typical mono output. Using output modes that properly generate mono sound, either through a single center speaker or cloned to multiple speakers, the sound output sounds mostly identical to the original NES. The FC Twin does not produce some sounds faithfully, even with mono output; sound effects in the Super Mario Bros. series games will for example immediately seem different. Nevertheless, some later models of the console produce NES sound much more faithfully than units made closer to launch. Recent models produce sound with complete fidelity.

Be sure that the EQ settings aren't accidentally putting you over the top as far as demand is concerned. Bass-heavy material? Same conditions apply...accordianman

I hooked two Receivers up in series a Technics SA-DX930 and a different kind I'm not sure wut kind. They worked great for a while, but when they got turned up a little louder they both quit puting out...

you blew your power amp board, you cannot hook them in series due to impediance matching and improper input levels, cheaper to replace reciever than the board
