Oil System Plugged. Remove the clutch cover, bar and chain. Clean the oiler hole and channel. Start the saw and see if it oils when revved up. If yes reassemble your saw. If no a blunted, hooked piece of wire can be used to pull the hose in the oil tank out. I recommend the filter be replaced. Work your way through the linkage cleaning and replacing any defective parts as you go. Carefully check the hoses for cracks especially at bends and connections. If equipped with an oil pump it is usually behind the clutch (clutch is probably left handed thread). Please make extensive notes & some digital pictures will help during reassembly. Your parts manual can probably be found here: Homelite/Ryobi.comhttps://www.gardnerinc.com/recons/discla... - Agree; Choose ?Product Line?; ?Select OEM? & ?Select Catalog? both to ?Homelite Consumer Products?. A drop down list appears; self explanatory from here. The numbers Homelite & Ryobi use don't match the numbers everyone posts. A careful inspection of your saw should find something that matches. About .030". Remove the muffler if you can and look to see if the piston is all scored up. You may be using garbage gas or mix oil as well.

I need a Service and Parts Maneul for a Homelite Super XL Automatic Model # 10045A, Serial # 301330028

Go to mymowerparts.com . They have a huge selection of parts lists available for free as pdf's. I have a 1983 Super 2, and I found one there. You'll have to scroll down a very long list, but stick with it. As for the service manual, good luck, I'm still looking for one myself . Surprisingly, your local library may be your best bet. Look under "chain saw repair" or "small engine repair". Also look for an owners manual, it has basic service information.

I have a small homelite chainsaw.super EZ on the starter rewind it says automatic, but it has a manual chain oiler, it also has a knob that is labeled trigger latch, it appears also to be a compression...

oil out of the exhaust means that the oil /fuel mixture is incorrect
change the mix to 50:1 ( for the correct mixture there should be a faint wisp of smoke at rpms)
the chain is oiled automatically when the chain is running and the oil will leak out if left with a full oil tank and unused
the idling problem most likely will be from the incorrect oil/fuel ratio or incorrect oil in use --it is not engine oil but 2 stroke oil
do not use e mix fuels in small engines

I have a homelite xl, UT# 10655- the chain oil seems to be leaking and coming out of the exhaust and continues to leak after shutting off the chainsaw. Any ideas on the possible cause?

Your saw is listed as an "XL Chain Saw UT-10655" here:
Homelite/Ryobi.com (authorized parts supplier)
https://www.gardnerinc.com/recons/disclaimer-lg.php - Agree; Choose “Product Line”; “Select OEM” & “Select Catalog” both to “Homelite Consumer Products”. A drop down list appears; self explanatory from here.
The numbers Homelite & Ryobi use do not match the numbers everyone posts. A careful inspection of your saw should find something that matches.
See the "Engine Internals" print. The oiler appears to above the clutch and driven by a pressurized tank. Venting the tank (opening the oil cap) may help help with weeping but only emptying the tank will stop it.

If no oil from engine oiler hole I suspect a failed hose or connection. Use the IPL to inspect and repair as needed.

Oil System Plugged.
  1. Remove the clutch cover, bar, and chain, clean the bar groove, any holes and passages on the rear of the bar (both sides, consider rotating the bar), if equipped with a sprocket nose ensure it rotates easily at least one complete revolution. Clean the saw oiler hole and channel. Insert a blunted, hooked piece of wire through the oil filler hole and pull the hose in the oil tank out. Pay attention to the screen or filter on the free end (clean or replace, difficult to determine serviceability). Start the saw and see if it oils when revved up (oozes down side of saw). If yes reassemble your saw. If no, continue with 2.
  2. Work your way through the linkage (use IPL to identify components and locations) cleaning and replacing any defective parts as you go. Carefully check the hoses for cracks especially at bends and connections. Please take extensive notes & some digital pictures will help during reassembly.
If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. Thank you for using FixYa and Good Luck. HTH

Homelite XL, UT 10618-A, 14" chiansaw oiler does not oil chain. The reservoir is full. Also, is there a manual available anywhere online. This saw was gifted to me recently without any manual, etc. Thanks...

This probably is a worn out automatic oiling diaphragm and plunger assembly. If it is like my Super 2, it is right behind the clutch and sprocket. I had to take the sprocket off to get to the little plate held by three small screws. You probably have to remove the plastic covers first to see this stuff. After removing the screws, the diaphragm and plunger should peel off either the plate or the engine housing. Now the fun starts. I found a parts supplier that listed a picture of the little demon and the price was about seven dollars. But I didn't bookmark the site and now I can't find it again. If all this info matches your saw, and you find a parts supplier, please post it. Good Luck!
