1952 Crane bathtub/shower drain assembly diagram

I have a circa 1952 Crane bathtub supply and drain that has a two handle supply and a lever in the center of the air vent to open and close the drain. There is no drain cover in the drain hole.
Recently the tub has been leaking to the lower level. I noticed if I cover the air vent assembly and pour water over the general area there is no leak.
I am assuming that something has gone wrong with the assembly. I am looking for a parts diagram and repair instructions if available.

SOURCE: leaking water from underneath.

sounds like several problems. sounds like your boot stem/ seal is leaking and possibly the tub bearing is rusted. I generally replace both at the same time as long as the machine is apart anyway. As for the squealing and tub slamming to a stop, that is your brake package and bearing have dried and/or rusted and need to be replaced

SOURCE: my price pfister tub valve leaks

there is an o-ring inside the valve that seals. It has failed. They should sell a rebuild kit where you bought it, or dis-assemble, and take the failed oring in to have it matched to a new one.

Stop leak in a bottle absolutely does not work, look closely there should be some sort of access panel (maybe well hidden) to get under there.

SOURCE: water is leaking from my downstairs air conditioning vent

I seriously doubt it's the AC. It may be the draing in the upstairs shower, If it's a water line it is a very small leak and is probably puddling in you ceiling. if not nbeing absorbed. Best thing is contact your homeowners insurance because you are going to not only have a plumber to deal with , but a mols issue as well. Sorry, good luck.

Is there a button on the tub filler? How about the spout on the tub, does it lift up? If there is not a tub spout then it should be shower only, if it has a tub spout it has to have a lifter of some sort, the foto I found showed the little button lifter. Hope this helps.

The lever that pulls up and down on the spout doesnt work well .

You can adjust the length of the connection piece which opens/closes the plunger to close the drain. Remove the handle assembly from the tub and lengthen/shorten the assembly as needed to be able to seal the drain.

Usually the name is marked on the escutions rings. Bring the handle and stem if you can remove to a hardware store and they might be able to identify the faucet by looking at the handle.

I have a positemp one lever bathtub handle. we

Because the tile was added after the valve was set to correct depth, you will have to get a extention kit. They are only available at a supply house. This will extend handle further away so the handle wont scratch any more.

Bath tub drain

You need to replace the overflow cover with the lever on it.You can replace the entire piece or just the faceplate. There is a spring on most of these that holds the lever in place when thrown and that is the piece that is broken causing your issue. Thanks for using Fix Ya.
