Its a problem with the Main Control Board Assembly. Nutone switched to a cheaper "made in China" board (and motor) and have had problems with them ever since. If you have your sales receipt they should honor the warranty and possibly ship you a new unit, if you don't you're S.O.O.L. because they have had to replace almost every unit and they are trying to cut their losses by demanding the original receipt proving you bought it.

Central Vac Dust Care 3000C - My system will not turn off when I unplug the hose. I also tried unplugging the low voltage wires from the unit and it will not turn off . Any thoughts?

A hanging relay, put a piece of paper between the magnet and the actuator, it releases quicker. Or there is a short in the wire, measure if there is a voltage over the wire, if not there is a short somewhere, good luck!

AirVac ZX6000 won't turn off!

There is a relay board inside your unit which is most likely bad. If you have the make and model, you can contact me and I can order the board for you(pending your mechanical abilities). If not, contact your local central vacuum installation company. www.thevacdudes.com

NuTone CV353 Central Vac does not start when hose is plugged into

Try to plug the hose in sideways. So the top of the hose is rotated 90 degrees. If the unit turns on then there is something wrong with the hose. It might be a short or it could be a bad switch on the handle. If the unit still wont turn on I would think that maybe the low voltage wire got disconnected from the unit or there is a break in the low voltage wire somewhere along the way. Let me know if you plugging the hose in sideways works.

Central Vac does not shut off

Sounds like the relay that is in the central vac unit is stuck to the ON position. When you plug it back in..does it start right up ? If so.. You should be able to disconnect all the receptacle feeds to the central vac unit at the central vac unit to determine which one ( if any) is calling for the vac to stay on.. if none are.. then it is internal to the vac and may be a stuck relay... Hope that gives you some ideas to check...

Central vac

It is possible that the low voltage wiring that controls your central vacuum has been damaged during the cable work. You can check to see if the low voltage relay is working by shorting the two terminals together at the unit. Just disconnect the two small (18-22 gauge) wires from the unit and short across the terminals where the wires connect. If the unit comes on, the vacuum is fine, and it is most likely the low voltage control wires that have been damaged. It should be a pretty easy fix, if you can get to where the wires are located. They are probably just pulled apart at a joint. Good Luck!!

Kenmore central Vac - where to connect low voltage wires?

Mosy central vacs have 2 spades close together that stick out on the side, usually where the circuit breaker and auto/manual switch is. This is where you plug the low voltage wires into.

Wiring up central vac too breaker box.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
A central vac not knowing the brand name or model # uses regular household current and plugs into a regular household inlet and I have never heard of wiring the central vac to the breaker box. The central vac is usually out in the garage or down the basement and will be in the regular household current. You may want to ask the manufacturer or the vac dealer you purchased the central vac from and they might have more information for your and if your central vac needs to be wired to the breaker box they will give you instructions, but I don’t believe that you need to do so. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Central vac toast?

Most of these motors, the fan cover is just pressed on, but getting off isn't easy and you don't want to bent it up. Maybe using a flatblade try to knock it off from the edge of it may loosen it enough to pull it off.
