Question about Moen & Replacement Cartridge

1 Answer

Moen 87135C leaks - I've replaced the cartfidge (Lowes didn't have O rings) and put it all back together - but it still has a leak - I guess I should try the O rings - Does o-ring replacement involve diconnecting water hoses in order to get under the spout? Wondering if its better to replace the whole faucet at this point

I have a moen CAF 87254 faucet and the filtered water portion of the faucet has a very slow leak. What can I do to fix this?

YOU MAY HAVE CROSS THREADED WHEN PUTTING IT BACK ON. YOU MAY HAVE PINCHED AN O RING WHEN PUTTING BACK ON THE O RING MAY HAVE A VERY SMALL SLIT PREVENTING IT FROM SEALING. I HAVE A PURR WATER FILTER ON MY FAUCET & IT LEAKS JUST A BIT BUT THINK IT'S FROM OLD AGE HAVE HAD IT FOR 5 YEARS & THERE IS A VERY SMALL CRACK IN IT. IF YOUR'S IS NOT NEW YOU MAY HAVE THE SAME THING THERE MAY BE A SMALL CRACK IN THE HOUSEING SOME PLACE.

The cold water on my Delta double hand faucet is leaking. I replaced the spring and rubber seat. when I put it back together, i can not turn the water off with the handle. I took the stem assembly out...

I believe they go in one way ,, but I've seen some that are 180 degrees out, which would make it so the water won't shut off, also with delta and moen,, add some plumbers grease to the o rings and faucet washers, so they don't stick when replacing,

When I turn on the cold or hot water sink faucet water leaks out from the top of the cold water faucet . I took the outer casking off and can not figure how to remove the stem. I removed the ring but...

if you have the ring removed, screw the handle back on and pull up on it,, your leak is probably due to a worn , torn , "O" ring,, and Moen parts are found at most hardware stores ,, ( including Home depot , and Lowes) On Moen faucets , Look for the dent in the flange that squares off,, where that square is on the ring, is where the retainer ring is that holds the faucet in place ..its a "C" clip with a head on it, remove this ring and the assembly should come out , be sure and use plumbers grease when replacing the O rings,, they last much longer that way

I just replaced the O-rings on a moen faucet to stop a leak. The leak stopped but now there is low water pressure. The cold water was leaking but the pressure is low in both the cold and hot water. What...

possibly the aerator has trash in it. unscrew it from the end of the spout and flush it out. also could be the gaskets on the side of the cartridge bunched up when installed. remove and coat with non-petroleum grease (lowes has it) and re-install.

Handle won't stay up

I did the same thing recently, that is replaced the cartridge on my moen kitchen faucet to stop and leak, and I also have the same problem. I called moen back and they sent me another cartridge that was supposed to fit tighter, I suppose. I just put the new one in and it still wont stay up. I'm going to call moen one more time and then I guess I'll have to buy another faucet, but NOT moen!!! Good luck with yours.

The moen began to leak over time now i cant turn the water for

Call moen and give them your model no. they will send you a new cartridge free of charge. if you can't wait local stores like lowes will have them. Turn off your main water shut off valve and take off handle, then with some pliers take off brass ring, the cartridge will pull out. First notice the notch it rests in and notice where the hot water adjustment disc is. Assemble the new one the same way, put some vasolene on orings and reassemble. hope this helps.

I have a moen fawcett. single knob, it is leaking

the spout is the end piece where the water comes out. where is it leaking ?.
when you put it back together i would suggest you use some teflon tape often called plumbers tape on all the theaded fittings as that will prevent any leaks as well.

Replaced moen 2225 cartridge leaks when valve is turned on

Make sure that you did not pinch an O ring seal when you were installing the cartridge. If so replace O ring. when installing new cartridge try putting a little Vaseline on all the O rings. It will seal better. It is rare but you could have purchased a defective cartridge. Never buy a cartridge if the package was opened because maybe someone just needed the O ring that is making your faucet leak :-)
