Question about HP OfficeJet 6110 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

My all-in-one won't make copies when I place on the glass. Also related, faxes go through except for the last few pages, where it says paper jam, please reload. There is something that is not switching to recognize the glass and the last page of the fax.

Its the problem of scanner assembly.there are many possibilities that you will have to check out. ---------- many a times the scanner unit gets stuck up on stand by mode and nothing gets copied but the printer prints when you give a command from pc.so first thing to try is unplug the printer from main power outlet.then also remove the usb wire from the back of the printer.(the pc printer connection wire is called usb wire.).then wait for 10 minutes and reconnect the wires and check out.many a times this solve the problem if its stand by mode problem. ---------------- if the problem is same then either the scanner reading assembly has got dust on it or its got weak or its got faulty.if its weak or got dust on inner part of the assembly under the glass ,then this is common problem .it gets solved by just getting the printer serviced .you can do it yourself but that needs the printer and scanner assembly to be disassembled.or you can get it done by local printer repair/service shop. ----------------- but if the scanner assembly is faulty then the inner scanner board assembly needs replacement.the replacement scanner assembly will cost you near to $50 plus the fitting charges of the technician.this are the only three possibilities .this all has to be checked one by one.any of the one possibility will solve the problem. --------------- thanks.please do rate the solution.thank you for using fixya.keep updated.

the fault is a mark on the glass over which the paper passes when being copied. it is the rectangular glass that is probably only 1cm wide but the full A4 length across the screen. Clean the mark off this thoroughly and voila, fixed.

Unwanted verticle line on fax copies

Most likely a fax has been sent or a page copied with 'white out' (Liquid Paper), still wet on the page. As the page feeds over the scanner, (a narrow strip of glass that runs across the width of the page along the feed path) the wet liquid paper comes off on the glass as a thin line and dries. Thereafter, when copying, scanning or sending a fax, the scanner light does not go through the liquid paper streak and the result when printed is a thin vertical line that runs the full length of the page. If this is the cause you will also find that faxes you send to other people will also have this line (although faxes you receive are not affected by this problem with your machine).

To fix the problem: follow the path that the paper travels when sending a fax or making a copy, until you find the scanner (narrow glass strip). Take a clean, soft cloth and a small amount of methylated spirit (or white spirit) and remove the now dried Liquid Paper from the glass. Clean the whole strip ensuring that the glass is left clean and dry.

I get lines and can't read the right side of copies that I make with the 1270e. How do I fix this?

You have not specified why you can't read the right side of copies and I am assuming that the reason is because the 'lines' are covering the text. I can offer a solution to the lines issue.

I have a black line showing up on my faxed documents. I have opened it up, changed the film and re- set it, but the problem persists. The machine is about 5 years old.

When you send a fax, the other person only gets lines on there copy, not the paper that i faxed

Make a copy with your fax machine. If your scanner is bad you should have a similar problem making copies. The same scanner is used to make a copy as is used to scan and send a fax. If the copy comes out bad your scanner is either dirty or bad. If you can see your copy but it just has a few lines running vertically up and down the page then you need to clean the scanner glass. This is a small strip of glass in the port where you feed it your originals.
Good Luck

Two lines, one on each side of copies made from feeder and faxes

Try cleaning the rollers inside the scanner including the glass inside and out with a soft damped cloth. Look also for a piece of paper, staple wires, paper clips or pencil lead jammed inside the rollers or somewhere in the corner.
Also, look for a foreign object or substance on the cold cathode tube light and clean it. Try also cleaning the mirror.

Has line down center of page when using ADFfor copying

Hi There,

There is a piece of glass that the machine uses to scan the page. it's like a 1/2 in wide, and the width of the paper.

This glass is dirty with a spec of toner or white out on it.

Clean this glass very good. you may have to use a razor blade, but be very careful not to cut the plastic around the glass or it will jam.
