People are giving away their older TV's as they upgrade to new wide flat-screens nowadays. That makes your TV not worth fixing. Keep checking Craigslist and your local thrift stores for one that's cheap or being given away.
If the picture is too wide, both in vertical and horizontal direction your TV needs power supply adjustments. It is now running at overvoltage, and this condition may poise to another problems soon. Get it repaired soon. Its internal regulated voltage needs to be adjusted. You cannot do it by yourself. Get it repaired by the help of a technician. Don't switch on the TV till its fault have got rectified.
Hi, where you plug the dvd cables into the tv determines where the picture will be seen; Example, if you plug the dvd players yellow, red & white cable into the tv`s "input 1" then you go to the tv`s "input" or "tv/video" button and push those buttons to get "input 1" to come up on the screen and you`ll see the picture and hear the audio, it`s kinda like a file folder in your computer, you`ve got to find the file then open it to see the contents. If your tv is on channel 3 or 5 or whatever you won`t see the picture because the picture is in video not a tv channel
This sounds to me like the parameters are off, I recomend only a service tech adjust this for you because the parameters can only be accessed by a service man, and they are critical, if done wrong the whole set can go out of wack.
