Your screen is probably delaminating and as it seperates, the lcd inner panel is failing. The screen is going to have to be replaced, they should not be serviced, the bezel on the lid has to be removed and the screen panel replaced. Here is a service manual for the notebook. The below guide takes a few minutes to load because of the pictures, but well worth it.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Display not centered, no access to vertical scroll bar

That's because the LCD screen is going bad.

I would have said the screen Inverter, but the LCD screen uses LED's as a Backlight, and uses no screen Inverter.

The above is just an example. Shop around for a better price, but advise make sure it is a reputable dealer. (I do NOT advertise for anybody)

Found this recently. I feel number 2 adds to replacing the LCD screen, and number 3, also adds another idea for those who may be interested,

Steps 1 through 10, THEN Steps 17 through 22. (You just want the LCD screen replace instructions)

I HAVE NO USER MANUAL FOR ASUS EEE PC 4G (701)

Hi Brian,
I assumed you were looking for the EEE PC 701 (XP) Manual and not the Linux version..
If so, you can get the manual from here: http://rapidshare.com/files/312178229/EeePC701SD_XP_0730.zip.html (Click on the "Free User" download option)

Have a Eee PC 701 SD. I can turn on the laptop but once it's on nothing is displaying on the screen. I tried every button possible but nothing works.

Its possible that the LED light that illuminates the screen is dead. If you look very closely can you make out any information on the screen or is it absolutely black? If you can see text or Windows, then its likely the backlight.

If you cant, try plugging an external monitor in to see if it is even booting. Also look at the HDD light (bottom right of the keyboard) to see if it flickers on and off while starting. If there are no lights, then you may have a dead unit... Get er fixed.
