Ran disk sanitizer on my hp nc6320 now all I get is non system disk or disk error message. bought my computer second hand didn't come with any recovery or reinstall disk. what can I do now

Ran disk sanitizer the kills dead all data on the HDD, you zeroed the DRIVE>
why do that/,
your seller would but why you, its not your data there..
so you bet to buy windows again.
this PC is 12 years old today
and still has HP support (i bet not for long)
PER.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-compaq-nc6320-notebook-pc/1839146/manuals

HP will not sell you HP media kit for that PC, now. too old.
only MS will or free linux. (etc)
it came with w2k , XP or vista, XP is a horror now.
HP has no support for W7 on this PC, zero.
so that means you buy W7, from Microsoft.
how you do that is your call. (source and actions)
the street value of this PC is $20 (ebay solds)
so why put a $100 OS on a $20 horse

I'd go to GOODWILL(tm) stores.
walk in
see PCs.
look at the service tags on said PC.
see that microsoft tag, (called a COA sticker)
buy one with W7 tag , or up. win

Can i somehow just re install xp to solve my black screen, i did safe mode and disk check

Yes, you can re-install win xp, just follow this procedure- 1) As you turn on your laptop, start pressing "delete" button.Press it how many times you can. 2) After pressing the button.A blue screen will appear. 3) In that go to BIOS option. 4) In that option you will find and option named 'first boot' or similar like that. 5) Click on that option and change it to cd-rom. 6) save the settings and exit. 7) Then insert the win xp cd, before turning on your laptop. 8) Your laptop will automatically recognize the win xp cd on startup. After the cd is read by your laptop. 9) An option will appear "press any key to continue" or similar like that. 10) Press any key. And you will automatically will be taken to win xp installation window. 11) Press 'enter' to install win xp. 12) Then a confirmation window will appear. Check whatever you want to do to your laptop.
NOTE- installing win xp again will cause you your saved data lost. if you dont want to loose your data then just format 'c' drive of your laptop.
enjoy!! THANK YOU

Bought HP Pavilion dv2910tx,not able to install Windows XP. Help

If the install cannot detect the hard disk then the hard disk is faulty and needs replacing or the disk controller is faulty.
You can check if the hard disk is faulty by :-
Go into the BIOS and check if there a hard disk diagnostic.
If not then remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port.
If this computer see it as an external hard drive and you can view the contents of the drive then it is OK and the fault is the disk controller on the laptop.
To setup XP.
You insert the Windows CD and boot up the laptop with the CD.
You have done this correctly to get the hard disk error message.

Hard Drive with password protected.

I had the same problem. This is how I reset my password on a compaq or hp nc6320.
1. unplug the power cord
2. unplug the battery
3. take two screws from the ram cover on the back of the laptop (see youtube for this step)
4. open the keyboard
5. unplug the cmos battery cable (very easy to do)
6. plug power cable and turn on the laptop
7. laptop would erase passwords.
8. put everything back together.

A pleasure to help.

Same problem in HP dv6040ca

Firstly, the system configuration is normally in management menu or similair on your programmes menu. If not you will find that the bios menu in most laptops are basic and normally the main settings are hidden; you will need to speak to HP Technical for assistance in that. There is no reason to not be able to upgrade to XP Pro; but with an upgrade you would need to keep your original XP Home installation, otherwise you will need to completely install XP Pro firsly using the format option when you insert the Windows disc. As with most laptops all programmes and drivers are usually on a seperate partition on your hardrive, so be aware you are going to lose all this when formatting, so back up all files and settings. You may also have restore discs, if this being the case all programmes and operating system will be on them, so no need to worry about losing anything from your hardrive apart from your documents. Why do you need to dissable SATA?

Can't reinstall xp pro on my hp compaq nc6320

Stephane, I ran into the same problem after wiping out my Compaq nc6320 and trying to install XP Pro. The fix is to disable SATA Native mode. To do this: Enter F10 Setup then System Configuration>Device Configurations>SATA Native Mode and disable it, save the changes and now you should be able to install XP Pro. Remember, when I did this the drive was blank, I don't know if that makes a difference or not. Best of luck! Bryan P.S. If you want to enable SATA native mode after you have installed XP Pro check out this link: http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1042050&admit=-682735245+1161793137260+28353475
