My 970-c85092 dryer only runs cold air. I'd like to check the fuse, where is it located? If it's not the thermal fuse, what could it be? It's only 3 years old. Have already checked the breaker.

Not likely a fuse. check the heating element for a break. the thermal fuse will shut the dryer down completley. could be you need an upgraded thermostat kit for the heater assy.

Kenmore dryer 970-c85092, does the flat side or grooved (ribbed) side of the belt go against the drum?

I'm going to say the determining factor would be...
The ribbed side MUST be in contact with the MOTOR
drive wheel...

However... If you hurry before SEARS (deservedly) goes out of business... ((in my opinion))

Kenmore 970 c85092 00 dryer

Electric dryer no start does nothing

Check dryer Terminal block prongs both outside prongs should give combined 220, and 110 each if u check 1 outside & 1 center (ground) prong. Also check house electrical outlet for full voltage.

NEXT Test the PUSH start switch with meter for OHMS. Should show OHMS when pushed in or on start, and no ohms or infinity when in off position.

If you hear a humming/clicking sound from motor area you more than likely have a bad motor.
Try this test out to see if u have weak windings or relay/capacitor on motor.
Open the dryer door and turn by hand the drum while machine is on ON position. And you or someone else presses the door engagement switch in. If it starts up then u have bad windings

Another thing to check is the belt safety switch. With a multi meter.
Especially if u just replaced the belt. The belt safety switch is attached to the Tensioner and motor. IT LOOKS LIKE A DOOR SWITCH SOMEWHAT a little black pc of plastic with 2 prongs going into it. Sits at bottom of motor. Under the Tensioner. Attach meter clips to the 2 prongs on switch, Then when the little white push button is pressed in it should show continuity and none when released.

Lastly check ut push start button for continuity with a meter when pushed in the on position, it may have gone bad.

Why won't my kenmore dryer 970-c85092-00 heat?

check the heating element to see if the coils are still intact (not burnt or brake). if it is fine, then check the T-STAT and the T-CUTOFF switch. one of those is your problem. if it is the T-STAT or T-CUTOFF, replace them both, they are inexpensive and easy to replace. here is a link to a video that explains this fix thoroughly. i think you will find it helpful.

Poor heat

Hi, Have you checked the venting to the outside? Is this gas or electric? If it is gas, it could be coils on top the gas valve. I want to help.

Electric dryer blowing cold air

You either have a blown fuse, breaker, burned out element, wiring that has come loose. They all can be checked within 5 minutes. However, I believe it is in the thermal fuse which is located below the top of the dryer. You can access that pretty easy though. To check it, just bypass it and put the 2 wires together and see if it runs. The fuse is only 15 dollars or so. I am assuming you have an electric dryer.

There is a thermal fuse its location depends on the dryer if the filter is on the top then you have to take off the back panel and check the white fuse. If the filter is inside the dryer you have to take off the bottom panel. a flathead screw driver for the 2 clips the check the white fuse behind the lint trap (where the filter goes).
