I think your flash memory is damaged. Some times When you suddenly unplug your flash disk from USB this might happens. Due to this Operating system cannot read File allocation table from your Flash memory. Just connect with another Pc whether it can read the flash memory. if still fails. then your USB flash memory is damaged.

I have a 8gb Cruzer Flash drive, when i conect it on my pc, the orange light apprears but the comptuer doesn't recognize it. i went to the computer device manager but no new drive neigther plugged in...

I have 4 just like it and I've never had this kind of problem (Windows XP SP3). Have you checked the USB port(s) in Device Manager to insure there's not a problem there? Try rebooting the computer with the drive plugged in. You can recover the data on it using a program like BadCopy Pro (or similiar) providing you don't do anything to overwrite or erase the files on it first.

Look for the driver updates for Windows. Checking your memory card on other PC is also recommended.

Usb device not recognize

You mentioned that you uninstalled the unknown device from the Device manager. If you uninstall it then connected your usb flash drive you will see an error again on your device manager. This means that the driver for your usb port is not properly installed.

To install it, visit dell website, look for the model of your machine and locate the driver, download it then install from your machine.
