Hi,

Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT), known as Digital European Cordless Telephone until 1995, is an ETSI standard for digital portable phones (cordless home telephones), commonly used for domestic or corporate purposes.

The DECT standard fully specifies a means for a portable unit, such as a cordless telephone, to access a fixed telecoms network via radio.

But, unlike the GSM standards (ie, Cellphone sandards), does not specify any internal aspects of the fixed network itself. Connectivity to the fixed network (which may be of many different kinds) is done through a base station or "Radio Fixed Part" to terminate the radio link, and a gateway to connect calls to the fixed network. In most cases the base station connection is to the public switched telephone network or telephone jack,

DECT devices made for use in the U.S. and Canada use the term DECT 6.0 to distinguish them from both DECT devices used elsewhere and U.S. cordless equipment operating in the 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz ISM bands. It is a marketing term when pushing the FCC to accept DECT in the US and is not a spectrum band reference.

DECT 6.0 is a new protocol and frequency for cordless phones to operate on, and it provides several benefits over 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz systems:

  • No More Interference - unlike 2.4 Ghz cordless, DECT 6.0 phones are virtually immune to household interference, and vice versa. If you have a wireless computer network in your home, DECT 6.0 won't disrupt your internet use.
  • Security - Encryption is a layer of security that standard cordless phones just don't have. As information and identity theft is on the rise, DECT encryption helps keep your personal communications safe.
  • Call Quality - Extra security isn't just for safety, it gives you clearer calls without crossover traffic.
  • Easy Expansion - Extra handsets are easy to bring into a DECT system, and you can even make internal calls to other handsets in the house!
  • Battery Life - A DECT phone will last as much as 30% longer than a 5.8 GHz phone.
when you buy a cordless phone you have to see whether it say DECT 6.0 in its specification

Typical battery life for cordless home phones

Rechargeable batteries will last 2 to 3 years so your experience is normal. Time for a new battery which is a common type. Can be found on Amazon and elsewhere. For example: http://www.amazon.com/T-Lucent-AT3211-2-Cordless-Battery-Replacement/dp/B0083YBU5O

No and we have two phones and neither of them can hear the incoming call yet they can hear us. Nothing happened to the phones they were working and then they did not.

Not likely defective, just need to be reset. If I understand correctly, no ring with an incoming phone call, but the intercom feature works fine. The ringer on the handsets is either "off" it will say no ringer or the base station is not communicating correctly. Intercom is handset to handset. Phone calls pass through the base station first. Of course, check the base unit: power on, phone line plugged in, antenna attached. Then try the phone line to check for dial tone with a regular, "old" analog telephone. If you are using these with a PBX, you must have an analog line installed.

Need to hook up vetch cordless phone to my internet modem/router

Hi, this phone is analog so it can only be connected to a standard phone line, if your router or modem has a FXS connector (phone jack) with an active land line service, you could connect it there.

The procedure varies from machine to machine. Since you neglected to specify the model of your VTech 5.8GHz cordless system I can only suggest you enter it into the search box here to download a copy of the manual.

The problem is in the main base, the cordless phone is unable to communicate with the base because it has stopped working that is why you are getting the four beeps. It is more cost effective to replace the complete phone system than repair. The only other possibility "and it is long short" unplug the power and the phone line cord from the wall and let it sit at least 30 minutes, this might reset the processor ic and get your system working again.

I wanna hear phone conversations

Cell phones: forget it; most are digital, most scanners block out the frequencies, and they made it against the law. Only analog cellphones on radios made 10 years ago were receivable. That being said, IF you have an older cordless phone (analog), try searching the 46MHz and 49MHz bands; there were also some analog cordless phones in the 920MHz range, but of course, you wouldn't want to listen to any of those frequencies that I've mentioned.

Analog card not working in tda100

you will still need to dial a 9 from the phone to get an outside line, or you can program the analog ext to auto dial it for you. If you still can't then it sounds like the phone is in the wrong COS so it doesn't have access to the CO's.
