You need to go to control panel and into system, Click on teh Computer name tab and give each computer it's own name if it doesn't have one already. Then click on the change button and give your workgroup a name. Make all computers part of the same workgroup.

Make sure all the computers wired and wireless are in the same workgroup.
To share files across all the computers and laptops on your network then -
All the computer and laptop in this network group must have their hard drive or folder/s set to SHARED (a hand symbol will be placed on these folders that are shared).
If there isn't a secutity problem then these folders and easy of file sharing then do not setup users and passwords on these folders.

Just bought a acer labtop can not get the hook up to computor

To network two computers you normally need a switch or a router to act as an intermediary between the two computers IF you still want both to have a functioning internet connection.

Otherwise, take your laptop and plug a Ethernet cable into the laptop and into the back of your computer tower.

I'm assuming you are using windows so go to control panel > network and sharing > Homegroup Options > Join now. This will set up a home network for the rest of the computers connected to share pictures music and other files. You will need to access the homegroup password from Control Panel > Network and Sharing > Homegroup Options. Take that password and add it in to your laptop under the Homegroup menu and you will see your laptop underneath the My Copmputer> Homegroup tab in the side panel. You can begin sharing files between them.

1 connected ethernet cable from modem to dynex hub in "uplink port", ran another ethernet cable from laptop to 2nd port on dynex hub and ethernet cable from ps3 to 3rd port and nothing happens. Please help...

If your trying to use this to share an internet connection.. sorry to say but it's not going to happen. The hub that you purchased will not handle the DHCP settings that need to be processed to share an internet connection.

Best advice... go back to Best Buy and smack the agent that sold you this and get a router instead. :D That's what you're needing to share your connection.

Can't share files/folders between networked computers...

I can answer this but I'm kinda winging it so you will have to figure some of this out for yourself.
By default, XP does not let you share your data over the network. Go into folder properties and enable simple folder sharing.
Go to control panel/network and enable file and printer sharing for your network adapter. Reboot and go.

If both computers are connected to the router. Try turning off the firewall on both computers first. normally its firewalls blocking file and printer sharing that block the connection.

Trying to network xp pc to wireless laptop

Right click on the drive you want to share. Ex: C:\Vol-xx = name. In the pop up window click Sharing & Security. This needs done to all the drives you want access too. To share a printer. Everyone must have the printer drivers installed. The Pc that has a direct connection to the printer must also Share the printer on the network. Open Printer & Faxes, highlight the printer you want to share. Click File than click Sharing follow windows instructions.
Small suggestion regards to the wireless side of the network. Suggest you setup security so others close too you can not tap into your network. (common).
