Question about Garden

1 Answer

Starts Ok, runs for awhile and then a huge cloud of smoke and dies. If cranked long enough will clear oil and start. I removed the crankcase tube from below the air cleaner, started the engine and oil pumped out of the tube under pressure???

Just replaced air filter, fuel filter, and plug. Ran good for 10 minutes then started spuddering and died. Restarted right away and huge cloud of blue smoke came out. It spudders for a minute and dies

Blue smoke is oil. Have you checked you pcv? (Pollution control valve) it usually runs from one of the valve covers to the airfilter unit.

Check the oil level, sounds like you have overfilled the crankcase with oil.

My Toro has been great! But today saw white smoke from exhaust. Checked oil & added some. Few minutes later blew clouds of white smoke & air filter dripping oil. Did I just blow a head gasket?

Sounds more like the engine has been tipped, oil can then enter the air filter box via the engine crankcase breather, allow the engine to run with the filter removed until the smoke clears, refit a new filter if it is a paper element type and try again.

Smoke from engine of lawnmower

usually large clouds of smoke are from having too much oil in the crankcase, or tipping the mower so that oil runs into the cylinder. Check the level of oil, and make sure it's not overfilled.

13.5 OHV B&S won't stay running, blows gas out carb.

Check to see if the oil is over filled. check if the oil smells like gas, could be a gas leak into the crank case.
More than likely the head gasket is blown internally, causing excessive crank case pressure

Way too much oil, how do I fix?

If the problem was just overfill, the smoke should clear up after running it for awhile. You may want to replace air filter or clean if possible.

I have a Murray riding lawn mower Model 425600x8A. Recently, my son and I were using it to mow on a hill when it starting putting out a thick white cloud of smoke. We shut the engine off and let it cool...

The oil entered the cyliders when the mower was tipped at a severe angle. It will clear out after you run it for awhile. Check the oil level to make sure it is full. It could even be overfull and this is what caused the smoke. If it starts to run badly, check the spark plug or plugs. They could get "fouled" from the oil. Change the if the are black or covered with oil. It shouldn't have done any damage to the engine.
