Question about Yamaha RX-V1000 Receiver

Yamaha RX-V1000 Buzzing

Normal 0 OK, I have a Yamaha RX-V1000 that has started to buzz intermittently through the speakers……sometimes its loud, sometimes its quiet, and other times the receiver just simply shuts down as if it were unplugged. It’s not a hum, it is defiantly a buzz sound. Sometimes if I place my hand on top of the receiver it gets quiet, other times it causes the receiver to shut off, I have opened it up and blown it out with the air compressor, it looks clean with no burnt components on the PCB’s….I do se the power supply board behind the transformer, it does have Two large capacitors on it I assume those are the filter capacitors, I am OK with a soldering iron and could attempt to replace them, just not sure if this is the problem or not. What do you guys think ?????

SOURCE: YAMAHA R-V701 MAKES BUZZING SOUND & WONT TURN ON

This could be the indication of an open resistor, or bad Capacitor in power supply. May not be visible to eye, but if you look in PS. there should be atleast one big sized cap and every PS has a bridge rectifier, this is usually 4 diodes in series, check them and see if any open, shorted

I have a Yamaha Rx-a730 receiver for surround sound for our tv. Sound keeps cutting out started recentlyOnce in a while it buzzes very loud and then if you turn off and back on it's ok. Any ideas?

Check your grounds. A bad one with components will cause buzzing and/or unusual sounds. If this does not the care of the issue you then have an intermittent condition in power amps or power supply that will in the future become permanent. U just do not know when.

Klh powered subwoofer model ASW10-120B... when you plug in to power... it makes a loud buzzing/humming noise

I would check the caps on the power supply. They are rather large electrolytic capacitors that will look like they burst and/or leaking. When these die, the caps ground and the sub will make a loud buzzing sound. If you are handy with a soldering iron you can replace them yourself. Replace them with the same voltage or a little bigger and same with the size.

If the cap. says 16v 4700pF on it, for example, a 20v 5300pF or a 16v 6200mF cap. will work for this application.

Any Tape Out (REC) is flat Line Level output for any analog source selected by the RX-V1000.

Or you could just set up Zone 2 as on Page 61 in the manual - with or without the remote capability.

In other words, large demands on the amp. You don't say if it was actually LOUD in the room - or straining. Movie soundtracks, unlike non-classical music, are VERY dynamic.

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as a possible root cause for intermittent shutdown.

Alot of loud feedback through speakers, a loud buzzing noise

What sources make it happen or which do not? All buzzing = something in the amplifier end. is it from all speakers or just one?
One external source= RCA cables not grounded. Reconnect them tightly with a twisting motion to wipe off oxidation.
