OK that was a lame answer up there! If you want to add motion blur to your photographs there are several ways. There are two main motion blurs that can be achieved. One is the background blur to give your subject a fast motion feel while being able to identify your subject, like a race car. The other is subject blur to give a motion effect to your subject. NOW THE FUN PART - Doing it. The first one is the panning technique, set your camera for the proper exposure for your subject, frame your subject, as it passes by shoot and pivot at your waist while following the subject in the viewfinder, avoid up and down movement, with practice you will figure the right exposure and movement to achieve this blur effect. The second is the subject blur, this is simply adjusting your shutter speed and exposure to allow your subject to pass by with the shutter open long enough for it to leave a blurred image.

Yes, with limitations. The lenses will fit on any Pentax (now Ricoh) digital SLR. You may lose autofocus and/or auto exposure metering.

Aperture function

The primary function of the aperture is to control the amount of light passing through the lens. The more light passes through the lens, the less time is required for the proper exposure. A faster exposure can freeze motion and alleviate camera motion, while a longer exposure can allow the subject to blur, conveying a sense of motion.

The aperture also affects the depth of field. A wider aperture narrows the depth of field, causing the foreground and background to blur, while a smaller aperture widens the depth of field, putting more of the scene into focus.

It's up to the photographer to decide which effects to show. Usually for a portrait you'd want the subject's face to be sharp and the background to be blurry. For a landscape, you'd generally want everything from the foreground to the background to be sharp.

Pentax istd built in flash goes off when taking picture but picture is underexposed but if I use a different flash in manual mode the camera works ok

What distance are the subjects when using the built-in flash?

The built-in flash is optimized for use between 0.7m (2.3ft) and 4m (13ft).

You could also try adjusting the ISO setting (higher ISO requires less light) or adjusting the EV value to a positive number to increase the exposure.

Pentax ES2; do bayonet lens fit digital Pentax SLR?

Any Pentax K-mount lens will fit any Pentax DSLR. The DSLR will fire the shutter.  There is a menu setting (RTFM) which allows the use of older lenses, but you will lose some of the automation (again RTFM). Remember to allow that the effective focal length when using a "film" lens on a DSLR body goes up by 50%.
A standard 50mm lens becomes a 75mm equivalent, but stays a large aperture.

I have a canon eos rebel digital and am wondering if it is possible to take double exposure pictures with it. i am going to a wedding 4-26-08 and would like to try it. thank u very much for any help teresa

Not many DSLR's offer the ability to make double exposures. Pentax *istD and Nikon D2x are 2 that can.

Otherwise it's down to you and the abilities of Photoshop and the like.

Blurry pictures with Pentax K1000

Hello,

It may be the equipment or it may be the way you are holding / taking the picture.

Here are suggestions on how to take better zoom lens pictures (this also applies to any camera) before you start diving into the equipment.

1) Use the fastest shutter speed possible. This reduces the amount of time of exposure, this limiting the amount of motion blur that can happen.
2) Don't hold the camera by hand. Either use a tri-pod or rest the camera on something stable, like a wall, rock, bench, etc. This makes it less likely that the camera will move when you are taking the picture, thus reducing motion blurr in the image.
3) If you have to hold the camera by hand, hold the zoom lens with your left hand (because it is more towards the center of gravity than the camera is) & try to slow your breathing & take the picture between heart beats.
4) Also, another thing that helps is to use a remote shutter release (such as that rubber bulb or plunger attached to the shutter release). I would also say using the self-timer would help, but the K1000 doesn't have that. This is so the camera doesn't shake from you pushing the shutter release button.
5) Make sure the lens is clean! Even get one of those lens pens from your local camera shop.

If you have tried all (or most of these) then its time to start looking at your equipment, such as . . . is your shutter getting stuck when exposing, thus lengthening the exposure and making for a blurring shot or do you need glasses? <grin -- which is why I find it really difficult to use manual focus equipement now, because my eye sight is really bad!>

Take care & Happy Imaging!
