Question about Xerox WorkCentre XD155DF Laser Printer

Xerox WorkCentre XD155DF front panel error code "L 6" What does that mean and what is te repair? It occurs during power on and will not continue to power up after the code is encountered.

Here's your geek-steer ...

Per manufacturer's support page, your device "Xerox WorkCentre XD155DF" is no longer made or sold by Xerox, therefore I'm presuming it's maybe getting a little long in the tooth.

Unable to locate error code "L 6"/"L6" for this device. However, per the "XD Series" user's guide, errors L1 thru L5 provides suggested solution of what's quoted following. Logic dictates L6 would have been paired up right alongside if not for this being an earlier published parent document to your later ...155DF suffix'd device.


Switch OFF the Main Power.
Wait approximately 5 seconds.
Switch ON the Main Power.
If the status code continues, call for service.


... which in tech parlance is an age-old, fundamental-as-they-come procedure known as a "reset/reinitialization". Which actually, right up to present day, is a surprisingly often successful remedy.


If I were you, I'd first try a quick reset/reinitialization as guide instructs. If/when that doesn't remedy, start from scratch:

  1. Check for/download latest driver(s) from support website
  2. Uninstall device's software.
  3. Turn off device.
  4. Unplug device.
  5. Wait 10 minutes.
  6. Disconnect all remaining cables/cords (both ends).
  7. Inspect for damage/wear and clean each cables' end fittings.
  8. Reconnect all cables/cords.
  9. Reboot.
  10. Perform a registry cleanup.
  11. Reinstall device using latest version software/driver(s), carefully following manufacturer's installation checklist.
That's just about as anal-retentive and thorough a reset as you can accomplish. Many would think it's too anal, but not me. I've discovered over a long period of time, from long-ago up to this very day ... printer type devices are THE most persnickety of them all. They're the house-cat of the PC/IT world ... vay'we, vay'we scay'we!

If still problem-ed, I'm sorry to say there's nothing much else I can offer as a solution, other than what the manufacturer's guidance is: "call for service".

    I forgot to mention, I normally have been shying away from printer/scanner questions as I've eventually grown weary of them. However, the only reason I responded to yours was for this reason:

    You wrote a definitively text-book standard trouble-report:

    • Included the entire nonmencalture of the device (make+model+full series).

    • Concise decription of problem (what's encountered)

    • Included an error code (yum, yum!)

    • Stating what precipitates (i.e., is being done/occuring prior to ... prompts) the problem.

    Kudos breinhart ... doesn't get much better than that.

    @ Anyone else reading this.

    Take note, and try as best you can to duplicate, and you too will almost guarantee yourself a gleefully given tech reponse every time.

    Unfortunately none of the software suggestions work because the printer wont power up. It shuts down maybe 30 sec after it is turned on and it displays "L" and than a "6". How do you recommend reloading the software ? I assume you mean into the printer. I may have to call a repairman.

BSD-ON: BSD 9.3 - Development and Toner Dispense Control
The frequency at which the ATC Average Fail or the ATC Amplitude Fail has been occurring
has exceeded the threshold value.

Whats mean by fault code 116-330 ?

116-330 RAP Error during HDD check. Disconnect power for several minutes and restart. If error persists, contact manufacturer.

My Xerox Workcentre copier gives an error message E2 paper jam and I have cleared every possible jam. The copier still thinks its jammed and won't start up now.

I just had this same issue with my phaser3300MFP. Initially I thought this was a software issue but after careful inspection, there indeed was still a jam. I would check the fuser area of the machine. There is most likely a page jammed in that area and they can be hard to see.

Error 016-311 xerox workcentre M128

This error code means the Scanner is not installed. The reason for this code could be a bad or diconnected interface cable, or corrupt system software. Check the cables for connectivity. If the problem persists, it will probably require a call to Xerox service. 800-821-2797

the error code is "printhead stuck in the tilted position or not tilting properly over the CAM, due to problems with the process motor gearbox" the 6375 is your print count, are you under warranty still by xerox?

I have error code h 3

this problem can be cause by three things abadheat lamp/thermalfuse/thirmister make sure the sensor is clean first the thermal fuse is self resetting when it cools down.
