If the paper jam error first occurs just after you have replaced the toner cartridge (as it did for me), carefully look inside (with toner cartridge removed) near the rear at the fuser and there may be a black piece of paper sticking out and/or curled up against the back. I needed a flashlight to see it but still wasn't sure until I felt around and found it. It was the protective sleeve that was around the drum in the toner and when I replaced the toner I missed it. When I first powered up the printer, the sleeve got fed partially into the fuser and the tail curled up against the back, making it practically invisible. Also, with that jam, the printer made no motor or gear train noise at power on so it almost had me convinced that the motor was bad. After removing the black piece of paper, the printer initialized normally.

Thank you so much. I found the black paper and believed that it was part of the printer. I would never have figured this out on my own. Very grateful.

SOURCE: konica minolta 2430 DL paper jam

Place a few papers in the tray.
Open up the top, pull out the main (green handle) thingy.
In the very bottom you will see a bar with a single large round rubber wheel in the middle, and white gears on both ends of the bar.
Manually turn the right side gear toward you.
As you do this, you will see the paper lift up and as the rubber wheel turns you will see that it has a notch on the bottom side.
Turn the gear, and watch the rubber wheel until the notch on the rubber wheel is facing up and away from you (and the paper is fully engaged).
Then put the green-handle thingy back in, close the printer, and it should work.
Apparently this resets something.  I have done it a number of times - usually after a paper jam.

PAPER JAM [LOCATION] Media is jammed at the specified location (and possibly at other locations). If the message persists after all jams have been cleared, a sensor or sensor lever might be stuck or broken. For all jam messages, do the following: 1. Remove jammed print media from the specified location. Check the entire paper path for other pieces of media in the path. 2. Open and close the top cover to clear the message. 3. Check sensors and flags in the paper path for proper operation.

My HP 2430 continues to jam on Tray 2 only. Tray 3 and Tray 1 (manual feed) are fine. I have replaced rollers and it continues to jam paper.

Common problem on this printer is for either the drive shaft for tray 2 to come lose or to break. Pull out the tray and try to rotate the roller. If it turns freely then the shaft is broken. The replacement procedure is too complex to describe here. If the roller does not turn freely then likely the pick solenoid has failed.

look it the tray there is what we call a paper sensor or a paper flag it's a small lever that is spring loaded if there is a problem with that sensor the paper will not register as being picked up by the rollers. or the paper pick arm best way to fix would to provide the serial info and I can upload you a manual for if with detailed diagram that show how to replace this part.

How do I fix a paper jam on a HP2430 printer. The paper is jammed infront of the Drum of the cartridge. Looks like the drum is not spinning with the gear. What could it be? Theo

Theo, remove the drum and paper tray.
    Disconnect the power source.
Carefully reach under paper tray and tray to pull paper out.
Sometimes depending upon the unit, you may find a flap inside the drum area, that lifts up.
If you cannot remove the paper jamming unit, you may want to find a plastic folder, which you will need to cut the same size as the paper you are using.
Feed this in buy hand trying to free up the lodged paper.
Most of the time, its a small piece stuck in the left corner.
    Good luck.

My HP LaserJet 2430dtn Paper jam

Try this, make a print from the by-pass tray, does it go OK or jam??
If it jams then there is a problem with the paper feed from the tray.
    If it jams then
1-check the drum and see if there is an image on it( you can put a mark on the edge to see if it's rotating, thus eliminating the drum unit)
    2-same for the reg roller
3-check for labels ar foreign objects

    Media jam transfer roller

We have a Xerox 6120 which is mechanically identical to the 2430. It was reporting media jams. We determined after removal and careful inspection that the fuser roller and fuser pressure roller had been damaged by what looked like someone attempting to clear a jam with a sharp object. I cannot speak re: the 2430, but the fuser in the 6120 is not a FRU. The construction of the fuser doesn't tolerate any flaws on either surface. There was more paper jammed in the fuser where we couldn't see it until we had the fuser out of the printer. We are shopping for a new printer as the repairs will cost more than we paid for the printer.
