This happens when you install an update from microsoft for Windows, and particularly Windows XP. Some people install copies of the retail vesions of windows that came with another computer. And this may lead to another problem. Such as Windows genuine advantage validation checks to fail. This happens when you use a pirated copy of windows XP.

It is always suggested that using a genuine purchased and licensed copy of windows XP will ensure technial support from Microsoft and their partners. This will help you from the message that you have been encountered.

If you believe you are using an original purchased version of Windows, then I would suggest you to change the windows Product key. And this will help you stop this message.

The reason you get this meassage is that, the windows product key that you are using is illegal and blacklisted by microsoft. Changing the key to an original product key will solve this issue.

The Product key changer tool is available for download free from microsoft' website.

I am a victim of of software counterfeiting

Don't do anything online. You're probably installed WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage).

Try to find REMOVE WGA on www.softpedia.com

That little hack tool should solve your problem.

Or simply reinstall your OS.

'you may be a victim of software counterfeiting

OK, This is a notice from Microsoft. The validation tool thinks your Version is a counterfeit. It is not a virus, but is still a headache no less. It will not go away, we can't shut it off. The only way to fix is to reload with a valid code or call Microsoft to report it. I hope this helps :)

Victim ofsoftware counterfeiting

What ever you do,don't waste you time and get talked into by microsuc to pay twice for a key then what you can buy a legit copy for. But make sure you buy one. Just because gates is the richest
man in the world for there underhanded ways, and locking you into problems. Kinda of like thieves. Now just because there are a thousand company's who's founder should have 4 times the money then gates does, but don't because they where human and not thieves and steal ideas just to get rich. Still means that you need to buy a few computers because if the mobo breaks and you don't get it replaced with the same exact one you have to buy it again.

Its too bad that a company like ford that built this country, didn't
act like micro, then they would be 1000 times richer then gates.
Instead of going out of business and people with no jobs.

Windows XP displays "you may be victim of software counterfiet"

Go to Windows Explorer - do a search using the following string wga*.* (I think you will be directed to System32) - rename the files found as wgaxxxx.old (where xxx is the extra letters)

This will stop the nag screens.

Good luck.
