Question about Husqvarna Viking 1

1 Answer

The material will not advance in my Husqvarna Viking 775.

I have tried different stitches and different lengths, but the material won't feed. If I pull it, it will sew, but won't advance any way except manually. I have cleaned it, but it didn't solve the problem.

The first thing to observe is if the feed teeth are coming up above the needle plate. Remove the presser foot and unthread the needle, then rotate the handwheel (always towards you, never away from you) and check to see if the teeth come above the plate. The button next to the on and off switch drops the feed teeth, so make sure it is in the up position. Pushing on it when its down makes it pop up and then after the machine makes one revolution the feed teeth pop up for normal sewing. Also look on the left side of the machine and you'll notice a dial, that dial should be on 6 for normal sewing. If everything I've covered so far is correct, the dial is on 6, the teeth do come up above the needle plate and your plate is correctly on the machine and you still don't have feeding it's more than likely a computer problem and a service to your tech is in order.

Remove the needle plate and make sure there is no lint obstructing the feed dogs. If they are clear, it is usually the feed dog step motor gone bad. You should have your machine serviced by an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer. You can find your nearest dealer at the Husqvarna Viking website -

If the stitch length is not correct and does not change when setting stitch length, it is probably a bad stepper motor. You should take to an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer for repair. You can find your nearest dealer from the husqvarna Viking website -

Have Viking 990 and feed dogs not working. Local repair man kept for over a month and then said it was the circuit board and that Viking no longer making circuit board for 990-- or, that machine can't be...

Is it that the feed dogs won't go up and down, or that you can't adjust the stitch length? If the feed dogs won't go up and down after you have released the feed dog button and cycled the handwheel one revolution, than there is a mechanical adjustment needed. I the stitch length can't be ajdusted, that It's either a circuit board of a step motor problem. The repair shop should be able to tell you that they swaped the feed motor with the zig zag motor to test this issue.

Viking Husqvarna Model 6020 stitch selector will not turn.

look at the cam gear. This is the unit that the cam connects to. It could have a crack or be split completely. If there is a crack the cam stack will have to be replaced. The parts are hard to get and a good technician is needed.

I have a husqvarna viking model 6030 & the stitch length is stuck - it will only move forward in tiny stitches

Sounds like the feed stepper motor needs replacing (or gunk cleaned out of). You might want to take it to an authorized husqvarna viking dealer for service. You can locate a dealer near you by visiting the husqvarna viking website and clicking on the Dealer link on the left-hand side of the page -

Feed dog switch

Did you turn the handwheel? The feed teeth will not come up until the machine is operated. Run it a few stitches and they will come up.

My Husqvarna Viking 775 will only sew backwards this morning. I have tried unplugging and replugging in. Any suggestions?

You should have it checked by a certified Husqvarna repair facility. It may have a problem with the stitch length motor.
I think that model will turn off the reverse lock if you shut it off and back on so that isn't it.
Have someone check the feed length motor to see if it calibrates when the machine is operated.
