Here is a link that shows you how to try an use the password reset process built into Vista. If that works for you great, if not then you have a couple options. http://itsvista.com/2007/04/itsvista-tip-50-reset-your-lost-vista-password-without-a-reset-disc/
1. Like the link indicates, there are software programs you can purchase that will allow you to reset a Windows Password. The author recommends one but I have not used it and have no opinion on it.
2. Reinstall Vista is the other option
Note, if you did not backup you password then after you resolve the issue, it is recommended that you do so in the future.

It is not so troublesome that you forgot Windows password, you can see this article about Windows 7/Vista/XP/2000 password recovery. Two steps:
1. Create a password reset disk;
2. Reset Windows server 2008/2003/2000 local or domain password offline!
