Echo srm 3800 strimmer starting problems. Good spark, plenty of fuel but won't run. Will run for a few seconds with a drop of fuel poured in the plug hole. Please help!!

check for a cable disconnected at the trigger
if you can move the throttle lever on the carby and it makes no difference then there is still a problem in the main jet of the carby

Try calling echo and ask for tech support or go online to get the phone # or check you tube to see if they have a video on it

It's a 2 stroke & it's relatively new. as long as you didn't score the piston by neglecting to add oil to the fuel mixture, the most likely problem is fuel issues. It only takes a month or 2 to have ethanol fuel absorb enough moisture to ruin the fuel mix. Return all carb settings to original settings. Empty your tank, get rid of your fuel, remix with NON-ETHANOL FUEL MIXED WITH A PREMIUM SYNTHETIC 2-STROKE OIL, such as echo or husquvarna. Purge all the fuel from your lines and primer. Remove the spark plug & pull the cord a few times to dry out the cylinder, run a flame under the spark plug to dry it out. Add 3 drops of fuel mix to the cylinder then replace the plug. Put it on full choke & pull 1 time. Then on 1/2 choke pull to start in 1 or 2 pulls. Still won't start; replace plug & air filter. Let it warm up for 5-10 seconds then turn choke off.

I recently bought a brand new 372XP and spent the first day trying to start it as per the instruction manual with no success, never even fired once. Removed the plug to find plenty of fuel and that the plug has a good spark. Left it until the next day mainly to allow my arm to recover (& scour the internet for clues). I found a forum that said not to use the decompressor and sure enough without the use of the decompressor button it fired first go with the choke on then I reset the choke & it ran properly on the second pull. The decompressor button can be reset with fine nosed pliers or removal of the top cover by undoing three screws. Good luck it's a great saw once you know how to start it.

Small engines have three systems. 1-ignition 2-compression 3-fuel
if you have spark at the plug and fuel gets to the engine the issue is in the engine compression system. I recommend pulling off the muffler and looking for scratches or scoring.
If you need to replace parts find a dealer like www.arcolawn.com to assist.

Check Your exhaust port.. not the muffler itself the actual port. More than likely carbon and Soot has built up clogging the port significantly. It commonly does this after a few to three years of use. Usually caused by to much two cycle oil added to the gas and just carbons debris building up from combustion.

Hi these machines are made by allpower most parts you can obtain from your local echo dealer.

spray some starting fluid inthe intake or drop in a teaspoon of gas. then try to start it . if it fires then dies it is not getting fuel if it doesnt fire it is something else. let me know the results so i can help further
