Looks like the original Hard Drive from HP in this model was a 250gb SATA hard drive 5400 RPM. I would suggest a 250gb 7200 RPM hard disk drive. Its a bit faster hard drive and will work just fine. you can also go with a larger drive if you have the need for it. I would suggest checking you local computer store. Or goto Newegg.com and get you a drive from them.

Buy a 250 GB as that is the original. But do you have the recovery DVDs for it as you will have to install the OS and other progs on it. Unless you plan to do it online.

Any 2.5" SATA hard disk will do. The one on your computer should be a 250GB, 5400RPM model (the manufacturer varies; probably Fujitsu).

You may want to upgrade it to a 7200RPM one (Hitachi, for example) which is perceptibly faster, but consider that it will draw slightly more power (draining the batteries faster) and run proportionally hotter and noisier. Hitachi and Maxtor both supply software for "acoustics and power management" but when running in cool'n'quiet mode what you'll basically have will be the equivalent of a 5400RPM drive (a complete power off is usually needed to change management profile - there's no SpeedStep as there is for CPUs).

From what the website says you have a 250 GB (5400 rpm) hard drive. Any standard laptop IDE drive should plug into your system. Here's a selection for you too look at.

Hp pavilion dv4 2145dx does not show hard drive in Bios

I'm guessing it doesn't load to Windows either.
Your laptop hard drive probably needs replacing.
You will need to reinstall your system too.

Hard drive failure pavilion dv5-2129wm

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Can i replace the the hp pavilion DV4000 SERIES 80GB (4200 RPM) HARD DRIVE with any 7200 rpm notebook hdd?

You should be able to replace it, but you will need an adapter lead from laptop hdd to motherboard as the laptop hdd will be smaller and you may need a kit to fix hdd into 3.5" bay. Both are readily available.

My Hp Pavilion All in One Ms214 states operating system not found. Enter the bios and it isn't recognizing my hard drive. It states 0mb. It is a western digital caviar blue 320 gig.

Remove the hard drive from the laptop, and re-seat the hardware back in place. Turn the computer on and see if the hard drive will come to life, if this fails the hardware will need to be replaced.
