My 60gig ps3 froze stopped reading games from bd drive

I got firmware 3.0 was playing a game on my 60gig launch console and notice the drive struggling to read the disc the game froze. when i turned the system back on i noticed my games were not loading anymore. i did a cold boot and tried again the game worked for a couple of minutes then froze again, unable to be recognised by the system again. blue led was on and the clock kept on spining on the upper righthand side of the xmb. PLS help i paid $1000 for this unit and expected it to work for longer than this!.. i keep it in prestine condition. so disappointed this has happened.

Its a bug in the update (3.00/3.01)
you arent alone with this problem, im one of them to, so im in the same boat as you.

So far theres no fix for this, and theres only 3 things you can do.

1. Call Sony and have them replace your faulty unit. (not free. (can be free if you have warrenty))
2. Replace the Blu-Ray unit yourself. (you will lose your warrenty if you do this. if you still have any)
3. Wait and hope Sony gonna release an update that fix the latest update. (probaly a 3.02)

Can you still convert a ps3 to play ps2 games

Hi the only one that can play ps2 games is the 60gig version the others are not backwards compatable and know software will get it doing this, you will do more harm than good messing with it as you would need parts off a 60gig version and also an updated firmware doing this will ban you from the ps3 site and can corrupt any data on your hardrive and can cause fatal error with your ps3

No disc drive

This is a very common problem.

It probably needs a new laser because the old one is "burnt out". It's a really common problem with them.

You could replace the laser or the entire Bluray drive.

You can buy these online at may online stores or eBay.

While playing the game froze i restarted it now it will not read any game dvd

Your blu-ray disc drive has stopped working I am afraid to say. If the PS3 is under warranty then take it back otherwise you need to replace the drive or the lens. Email me if you need more help at mr_fix-it@live.co.uk

My PS3 playd cd dvd but not blue ray games

Problem with the laser it sounds like. If you still have the system apart with the dvd drive out, go ahead and replace the laser. You can usually find them on Ebay.

PS3 froze while playing a BD, then it would not rcognize anything

Hi there,
Most PS3 systems end up doing this due to an over heating of the laser lens. Let me explain: The laser lens in the PS3 is made to read mainly Blue Ray games. The movies need to be read faster than the game discs which causes it to work harder thus the problem arising.
Sometimes, your lucky enough for this to only be a dirty lens problem due to rental movies which are most of the time, if not always, dirty.
Have you tried a lens cleaner kit?
This is the CD-ROM with a small brush on it to clean your laser lens head.
This problem has happened to me in the past and this solved the problem.
It is a common problem for any lens reading console.
Regards,

My 60 GB PS3 wont run PS2 games

Actually only 60GB PS3s supports PS2 games. But It requires particular firmware. In first instance try updating your system, then dissable the disc autoload function, insert PS2 game, and look at the game section if your soft will recognise it. If yes just try to play

Good luck

Ps3

sounds like a failed Blue ray drive or firmware failure. Update the firmware and if it dosent work, you will probably need to send it for repairs
