Sounds like this was probably a three-way switch you are replacing as there is no neutral (white) wire in the box. If so, you can splice the white wire to the green wire in other three-way switch box; then hook the green wire in the box you are placing the timer to the white wire of the Utilitech timer.

I have a four way switch that is not working when i hook it up what woul seem to be the problem with it

If you have a four way, it should mean you have two other three ways. lf so, wires are probably crossed. At each three way, you should have one wire on the dark screw. At one end, this wire will be the hot. At the other end, this wire goes to the light. At each three way, you still have two screws. these are the same color screw, and the wires on these are called travelers. They should only run switch to switch. When you have a four way, it is just in the middle of this run. so, two wires coming from one 3 way, and two wires coming from the other 3 way. Look on the box for the new four way, or see if it shows you which screws are in and out. Then hook up accordingly

How do i hook up a 4 wire timer switch (R G B W) to a three wire box(G B W)?

Generally your hook up is like this.
G - Ground - Green or bare wire
B - Hot - Black wire
W - Neutral - White wire
R - Switched - Hot when on
On your three wire
G - Ground - Green or bare wire
B - Hot - Black wire - hook to switch wire from switch
W - Neutral - White wire

I am trying to wire my 3 way cooper switch and can't get to work can you help?

you need 2- 3way switches to work properly, on the one side of the switch there are 2 screw terminals and your "traveler wire pair" are connected here, then on the same switch with only 1 terminal on that side the hot phase hooks to one switch and the other switch has the light and neutral hook to this switch

Need a basic diagram to wire a ceiling fan.

Depending on how your place is wired will dictate the solution here.

The light box in your ceiling should have two or three wires. Black and White, or Red, Black and White.

If you have two wires (one switch to control everything):
Black is power - hook this to the fan's power wire (and the fan's light wire if applicable)
White is neutral - hook this to the fan's neutral wire.

If you have three wires (two separate switches):
Red is power for the light - hook this to the fan's light wire if applicable
Black is for the fan - hook this to the fan's motor
White is neutral - hook this to the fan's neutral wire.
