Question about Kenmore Dishwashers
The usual way to cancel this on a Kenmore machine is to press and hold the "No heat dry" button for longer than 4 seconds. This should cancel the lock and resume normal function. I recommend you hold this button in for at least 10 seconds.
If this fails - leave the door ajar for one hour then try the procedure again.
If the problem persists disconnect the mains power supply at the breaker for 30 minutes - then reconnect to see if the issue is resolved. If the machine continues to show lock it is probable that the control panel or key pad is at fault and will require service attention.
One final thing you can try in this situation prior to calling a tech is;
1) Disconnect the mains supply.
2) Remove the control panel from the machine. (6 screws)
3) Disconnect and then reconnect the ribbon cable that attaches to the control panel.
4) Replace control panel and power up to see if issue is resolved.
If you look behind the kick panel you should find a tech sheet that describes how to perform a diagnostic test to determine if your key pad is bad or your control panel is bad if the problem is still there after you have tried all of these.
Hope this helps. Please do rate this answer. Thanks.
