One way to find out if it has a microphone...Go into Control Panel and select Sounds. Click on the Voice tab. Look under Voice Recording. There is a drop-down menu selection there. Logitech Mic should be listed there and selected. There is also a test hardware button you can click to test recording and playback. It's helpful to have the QuickCam software installed to go with it as it has controls for tweaking the performance of your webcam.

Get a separate microphone, do not get a combo. This way you can position your camera at an ideal position and your mic as a perfect position to pick up your voice. combo units are nice because its one less thing but you will be unhappy with the results

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

QuickCam mic doesn't work

I read another post that said to go to Logitech itself for up-dates. This I did......downloaded all new drivers, etc. (the disc that comes with the cam must be out of date !). Then when that was done, I went back on Skype and where you do a 'voice test' I was able to this time around to "choose" my webcam - this was not coming up before at all. So in doing that it activated the mic on the webcam and all was OK. We seniors are supposed to be savvy with the forever changing world of electronic devices today! (LOL)

Logitech quickcam

I had this problem on my laptop when I first got my quickcam. Go to the quickcam menu (should be a slim vertical bar). Click on the "gears" and then the microphone. At the top, it should offer a choice of microphones (maybe it says "quickcam" or "logitech" and "realtek"). You need to choose the "logitech" or "quickcam" option.

This fixed it for me, but it often switches back to the other one, so I frequently have to do this again...and sometimes restart everything once I do it.

Hope that works for you.

Built in Microphone doesn't work in AIM, Windows Live Messanger

You would be surprised at how many people don't realize that each application has it's own configuration screen.

It's not the end-users fault - like you said... the instructions could be a BIT more clear.
